Ok, here's a new idea for people who already won a head contest: The All-Star Contest! It's reserved for those who are excluded from HC, and MP5 only (there are not that many people on 3 and 4 who have already won a contest... and to few people in MP6 to have a contest at all) It starts at the the same time as the HC, and is closely conntected to it, keeping the hunting part alive^^ The plan is simple: Mur already coded a way to exclude winners from HC, so it shouldn't be a problem to insert a slightly changed code: Give people a star instead of nothing. To avoid messing the HC just for our personal fun, we can only get a star (or golden heads, blue circle or a pink ribon B) ) for getting a LOSS [defeated/sheath balance] against someone holding a bunch of heads, say 50 or 100. Those Stars have huge stat-damage as there are fewer of them around, like 20 times the damage of a head, and can be taken from other veterans by getting a vic against the one holding the stars, just like heads in HC. There should be absolutely NO rewards, no stats, no credits, not even a medal, it's just a fun contest you can compete in For counting the scores, there should be a random timer as for the HC, and the contest ends when the HC ends. Whoever has the most points wins, but doesn't get anything^^ NOTE: This idea is NOT related to the 'New HC' topic, even though one doesn't mess with the other... Just like the other topic we made about the normal HC, the startpost will be edited by us as the idea evolves or changes. Please leave your opinions and/or support below

by shutting down allies, we mean to say that there should be no advantages/disadvantages from allies in HC of any kind... you are still in you ally, of course, and you have the fancy logo and the ally chat, but all bonuses for combat are gone^^

now totally unfair outcome of feb/march head contest

*cough* easy to say _after_ winning through that system *cough* take a look at new ideas ;-) -
In the light of the latest happenings in HC, Lightsage and me started making up new possible rules for the Head Contest to prevent things like what happend from happening again. The main point of the new rules would be that Alliances are switched off during contest. That means: - NO Homeland stat-boost - NO Ally stat-boost - NO transferring heads from one mp to another - NO more 40 mins waiting, thus making the contest faster That obviously means that there can't be a HC in times of War... you could explain that with the HC being a way of training in times of peace, or a game to pass times of boredom, that obviously stops when a war is going on. Or as a kind of competition as it is now, "organised" by the alliances (which would also explain the stopping during times of war or tension) With the Allies being switched off, skills and pacts will get a bigger meaning in HC again, keeping it unfair, but making sure that actions like the ones MRV and Lightsage started, which are obviously considered too unfair, are impossible. Another point is that people are taking it too serious in our opinions, so we'd suggest giving out equal credit rewards to all 4 winners of each mp, and not giving the 1st double credit reward. This is because the credits make the contest taken to seriously, as if it where for money. We are sure that getting 1st is tougher than getting 4th, but in the last few contests, only Lightsage got a 1st place with 'skills', and personally, I [Burns] don't consider 5 birds to be any extraordinary combat skills -.- Anyways, he managed without pacts, and that's really rare when taking a look at the last few contests... And there's still the added skill and stat boost for whoever ends first (and gold medal ofcource) Another point is the timer. It needs to be rearranged, as it's obviously too easy to forecast the ticks with the current system. People keep logging heads off in places where nobody finds them [sometimes on alts, which is forbidden even by current rules] and only come on seconds before the tick and leave again mere seconds after the tick. Edit: If a player gets caught using a bug, s/he will be kicked from that months contest. No further bargaining, simply out. Better luck next time. Veteran link: [url="http://magicduel.invisionzone.com//index.php?showtopic=3424"]http://magicduel.invisionzone.com//index.php?showtopic=3424[/url] NOTE: the All-Star Contest is not linked with the 'New HC', but the don't mess with each other^^ More to come, but we'd like your opinions on what we already have Small note at the end I'd (lightsage) like to add: this is for making the contest FUN again, not to make it fair And this first post will be edited with improved ideas when they come

now totally unfair outcome of feb/march head contest
Burns replied to Lifeline's topic in General Forum
I've never had any troubles with the unfairness of the contest because it was the same always... Heads were transferred, bugs were used, pacts were made... but giving players who suffered under those things a second chance is not unfair, that's actually FAIR!! if that's how the contest should be played, everybody deserves a second chance, there has _never_ been a time when HC was fair... i can't remember a single HC in which alliances and head transfers were not a BIG part of creating winners -.- I can put up with it if the reason can't be made public, but if one of those three [transfer, bugs, pacts] is the cause for giving people a second chance, i want another shot at HC too -
assuming that the other thread is about the same fight, with the creatures showing, i assume aia used the ani tree 3 on regen and your grasan was on haotic damage, that totally explains the outcome... aia regend a good bit of vit, in fact more than you could destroy (over max regen, known glitch in calculation), but lost by % because your grasan was WAY too strong for her storm got damage, yes, but that was low damage on percent, and the little damage storm dealt to aia was too much on % for her... such fights are totally normal when one side uses regen, you can produce it with over -500k on the losing side O_o
-
uhmm... i reported that about 4 months ago... XD it's no bug, the neg vit creatures behave like dead ones, just as Light already said, they won't get hit, they won't do damage, they don't count for the outcome, it's just a glitch in the system that they even show up^^ i also know how to reproduce it: -get yourself negative vitality -kill some of your creatures to about 50 vit -use them with 100% influence the system will devide your vitality evenly between the creatures, and 'overkill' them, and then you have them 'undead' on the screen PS: try it, they are doing nothing at all, it's like they weren't even there, and if you have nothing but dead creatures in your rit, you will lose instantly as if your enemy had killed them with the first blow^^

Repeat offenders that do not get punished!
Burns replied to Shadow(mcvities)'s topic in Sparring Grounds
have you ever thought that some don't respect it on purpose? Ledah, for example, does that becasue of some rebellion-thingy [you know, teenies...^^], MP6 don't have that much choice and have to take the wins they can get... i agree that the dojo should be a place of safety, like the thing Calyx made it to be, but hey, you have no troubles with MOST players in there... can't you just be satisfied with what you've already got for once? the world doesn't fall apart because someone takes your def out... after all, you have enough players there on which you can reset them... -
evil... but good, i like the idea but a creature that destroys the opponent's auras should then be totally useless in all other ways, even less useful than that nice little priest... maybe give you a statdamage... like, if you know you will need that creature to destroy freezing abilities, you should pay for using it with getting like -200 init so all the opponent's creatures have first strike... or maybe -500 vit on all your creatures... or it should have... [thinks hard what would be the most useless ability] regen on multi _enemy_ creatures, with 10%... then such a creature could be fun, a really strategic creature... if you want it's benefits, you'll need to put up with the consequences =D
-
if you are stuck, a screenshot might help a lot... as first aid you could try to clear your chache and cookies, but that won't always help :/ oh, and hi
-
so you are talking about a creature that will take the enemies regen to 0, not only the regenaura of the tree... sorry, i misunderstood that^^ but that would lead to less fights overall because people would always have to wait for their vit to regen before they can go into a new fight after going down... as you pointed out, you can't fight with 0-vit creature, while you can with 1-vit creatures... so i'd say if that spell or creature-aura was to be implemented, it should take out the enemies regen totally, including personal AND creatures AND auras regen, but on the other hand give them 50 personal VE for every point of regen that was taken out by the ability AFTER the fight so they can rebuild an army if they want to do a fight themselves... that way, good regen would still be valueable, even if you lose to a player who uses that aura or spell, AND you couldn't trust in dummies anymore because you'll have to refill them manually after each fight
-
lots of people need a dummy defence to stay alive when the stronger guys come out to play... personally, i'd like to do good fights, too, but most mp5 wouldn't have any creatures left to fight once a player with over 1500 attack starts smashing them -.-

there are mistakes in the AL... he hasn't neccessarily hit the backside of the house, let alone go straight through it, he could also have gone through the wall next to the backside of the house, or may have hit the house and broke his nose on the wall and then dropped to the ground like a stone... whatever... but he isn't neccessarily in the house, and i have personally seen him in front of the house after he supposedly crashed into the house...

*just realizes he hasn't ever replied in a hello-topic before* Hi =) I guess you already enjoy the game, and i'm sorry for all the times i killed you up to now... but i'll keep on doing so anyways *hehe* And, congratulations for being a major part in AL :good:

LS, as you surely know by now, i assume everyone to be unique unless the person explicitly tells s/he is an alt... and Watcher, i guess my own vision may be clouded by the fact that i like ren personally... there are points in what you say for sure, but i guess the truth is somewhere in between... he definitely can be a stupid jerk, and if you cross him he will do evil stuff to you just because he can, but to me he has seemed friendly most of the time [losing your army while he is having a killing spree doesn't kill you, after all], with helping new players when he comes around, giving away free wins when you ask for them... and i won't ever call that man a saint or mentor, he's not a saint and way too inactive for being a mentor these days LOL oh, PS: Watcher, i like you, and whatever i may write is nothing personal against you^^ I just don't like it when people bring out statements from a definitely personal point of view, and _always_ argue against them until i feel that a good point of consent has been reached =)
-
hmm... i get the point, lib... didn't think about that... to me, the running and chasing part was horribly pointless because people could see me coming and walk off, and my ap would be gone for an hour after walking up to loreroot for a bunch of heads LOL and to me, fighting is the greatest fun one can have, as long as it doesn't end with overpowered drachorns and bird rits... and even then it's still a bit fun
-
i don't get the idea, really... all we need to do is ask calyx to post a little announcement about an upcoming battle contest, and then we go beat each other up, like, last man standing [totally clear, land wars rules could help a bit], hunter [someone with heads control throws one head to the hungry mob and players count how many people the head holder can kill before being killed, the one who kills the headholder gets the new hunter] or battle royal [teams of four are created, the teams beat each other up, and the winning team then decides in a final round who the strongest member is] or any other rules you can imagine... no need for an official private contest, is there?
-
oh... i like that turn so much that i have to answer in this pointless topic first of all, idk who you are or what you know, watcher, but personally, i always saw a good person in renavoid, even when he used me as target for his grasan attacks^^ he is a bit full of himself, that's true, but nonetheless he is a valueable part of the game, he does write a lot of archives stuff, and he does know a lot of stuff because he is a good listener... so claiming he wouldn't do anything to deserve his role is a straight-out lie. and AS there is a balance in the world, reckless actions will bring you closer to your target, kill or be killed, we are not playing kindergarden here... and with that post count and sign-up date i will just assume that you have NO idea what ren did or didn't do to deserve his role... PS: i'm not saying that you are a 'fool and idiot' [your words], but assuming oneself to be among the strong and intelligent while the people that were picked as RPCs and PWRs are jerks is most likely not one of the wisest things to think [rest assured, it's easier to betray taxes and get off with it than getting a PWR status in this game...]
-
that's because there are not really pacts between allies in times of peace, nobody needs them =) when we find ourselves in a war again, we might start bringing in treaties and stuff, but for the time being, most / all existing non aggression pacts and stuff are inactive^^

as I couldn't find a topic for dicussing Panday's new idea, i decide to open it myself Basic Idea: The dojo is a Chaos the way it is, people start to forget who can be attacked and who can't, or are totally confused by the rules in general (can i or can i not attack idlers? how bout permanent-afks?) So Panday suggested to give the Players who want it a simple tag to show they can be attacked in dojo, which would of cours ebe a permanent license to attack that person, or a flag that can be turned on and off by the players themselves. My Opinion: a tag wouldn't be that bad for those who never minded leting people attack them in the dojo, and a flag would be nice in general, like 'no, please don't attack me now, i have regen trees up for someone' or 'yes, give it a try, my def is beatable' on the other hand, tags are a bit harder to manage because [as far as i know] only shoeps and mur can change them, which is not a problem as long as someone makes a list like the one calyx already has beforehand, but would easily start to annoy them when people individually come to them and ask for the tag, and then want to get rid of it after a week because they need to train a new set of creatures, and then want it back for easier loss farming in the dojo... and flags: well, idk how much work a flag would involve, but i'm not even sure if such a thing is needed... even at willow's people stop attacking you when you ask nicely, so a flag would only have a valid point for idlers, and thos obviously are not there to change their flag [example: no one sets 6 tree-rits and wants to be attacked for loss farming, goes idle and after a while, the rits are unbound and incomings face a combat rit...that would lead the green flag ad absurdum, because no one definitely does NOT want any more incomings, as he is loss farming...]

it is to some... and the age is just to prevent those who get wins and xp easily from creating huge armies within hours... imagine you need a bird and just go to buy one and have it maxed within two hours of fighting, that wouldn't be fair... or, even worse, vit farming: imagine you could sacc once they reach the 20 wins, without waiting for age... you would go to 1m vit within days EDIT: uhm... that seems a bit beside the point you are making... would 1200k xp seem an appropriate challenge for 65 days to you? others would go insane over that number, you need to consider that there's not only mp5 with insane stats and RPCs with no waiting times in here... the others should at least have a chance to get the xp withing the time requirement...
-
we've asked for that loads of times already... manu keeps saying that the game isn't supposed to go at lightspeed and the current system can easily keep up with the regen-timer, and imo, he's right^^ if you don't want to unbind tons of rits, don't set defs that are likely to lose ;-)
