1. If you think it doesn't make a difference, then you aren't thinking about it right I won't spoil it for you, but it is a damn good example of how "A rose by any other name" can be a bit silly (although, take that quote in full context, and you can't really make the same comparison. So Don't T_T)
2.
honeymoon in Romania? how did you tricked your wife into this? )))
It's actually mostly Ireland, with a week in Germany (assuming all things work out, Passports are being a nightmare to sort out right now >_<). It just won't be a challenge for us to get out to Romania for a day or two
3. Of all the people in MD you should try to meet, get in touch with a girl called Handy Pockets. She can normally be found at Awiiya's Way (Another interesting fellow, but he may confuse you for a while ), which is just inside the MDA Gates (Have fun trying to find that, it isn't too hard ) After that, look for Mya Celestia, she hangs out around the Paper Cabin and Marble Dale Park, when she isn't in Loreroot. Sagewoman and Windy are also great people to chat with, if you can find them (They have had RL issues to deal with right now, and have not been on as much) If you can get them to talk, Grido, Shadowseeker, Metal Bunny, Tarquinus, Yrthilian, and Burns (who is actually rather talkative) are some of the more interesting Men around the realm. A few other friendly faces are Manda, BFH, nadrolski, myself (Kyphis), Curiose, Innocence (Although she will confuse you), Pamplemousse, dst... well, basically almost anyone who communicates back with you Far as talking to people though... You can get a lot of useful information from the [Players in Location] List above the chat. Golden names are those there right now (although not necessarily awake - more on that shortly), grey names are those who where there recently but have either moved location or logged out. If the name has a coloured picture on its left, they are part of an alliance, and if they have an * before and after their name, it means they are an LHO (and thus, especially friendly and helpful). Sometimes, when you click on the name of someone who the location list shows as golden, above the players name it will say ~~ Idle ~~. This means that the person is not really there, but they have gone Idle (as opposed to logging out) so that people can either fight them, leave them messages, read their papers (you will learn about these as you play, just ask in chat), or write on their PL. Basically, just like a real world social group, there is a lot of things going on and that you can do, most of which you will pick up very quickly as you go along. Just don't worry too much when you get locked up in the story, that is only a very short section and you will be back out in the world very quickly.
4. There is also Music at Winds Sanctuary, and a few other locations if memory serves correct.
5. From memory (READ: have not experienced this, this is just what I have heard), you can get your missing principle by going to an altar that would otherwise grant that principle, and it will give you it when you sacc a creature there (that has enough experience to grant principle raise). Otherwise, get a Wishpoint and Petition Mur/Council (Council would be best)
6. Yes, a lot of their "buy me, I'm 10% cheaper" sales are stupid, but at times they actually have worthwhile sales. For example, I have gotten Overlord, Overlord Raising Hell, and Overlord II for $4.50 (for all three); and the whole Spore series for $20. In Australia, to get the Overlord games would have cost $30 to buy it second hand, and the Spore stuff $40 for the main game and $15 for the parts pack, then a further $20 for the Galactic Adventures expansion. I also got Plants vs Zombies for $4 instead of the $20 Popcap wants for it. I've gotten things like Fallout, Dawn of War, and the Elder Scrolls for under $10 dollars thanks to steam. Still I'm more interested in finding out how many MDers actually use it.
7. I was referring to specifically as a product of the burst itself, ie if I activate a burst I will gain X times my VE and X AP (I know the values, but I also know that for some reason the specifics of Bursts is considered spoiler, so I won't post them here) You can certainly get VP from taking someone elses bursts, which is ironically easier than getting a burst most of the time. [s](That all said, I'm going to double check this as it has been a while since I last activated a burst, even though I have activated over 1000 of them >.>)[/s] Verified
8. First, due to its nature of just seeing what peoples opinion of that idea is, the only information it is interested in is Yes or No. Hence why those are the only options. That said, there is also the option to just see the results, so congratulations Chewett, you have your 3 points. Secondly, it is poll only topic because I did not see any reason for there to be offtopic discussion in it. Since it is just a topic to gauge whether people like the idea or not, I am not all that interested in other applications being discussed in that topic. As I stated, if there was a lot of strong opinion I would start a discussion on it myself. At current, with only 15 people having voted and a full 5th of that choosing your missing 3rd option, there is no point to a discussion as people don't care about it. 3rdly, there has been no discussion about values at all. As I said, if there was interest in this idea, I would begin the topic for discussion myself. The most likely outcome would be VP costs of no more than 5K. The point is not to make things so that you have to grind to get them, but so that VP actually continues to have a long term relevance to high end players. Currently all it does is MAYBE slow down upgrading a lot of creatures at once, and even then your more likely to run into AP limit than VP limit. 4thly, you get VE and AP from bursts, not VP. If you want to spout BS about poor form, at least ask in private before making your post, or do you have double standards about who has to ask who for information? I would appreciate it if you closed this topic and left your commenting on this business for when it reaches a stage that commenting is necessary, instead of just butting in.
9. It is an online retailer for PC Games, with quite a few interesting features and a propensity for insane sales (I have seen things worth $50 going for as cheap as Free o_O) You can find out more, or get it, here

Just wondering how many MD users are on Steam, and if we might be able to get an MD group up and running? My username is (surprise surprise) Kyphis. Feel free to ask me to add you as a friend, but expect to be ignored unless you give me some means of knowing your from MD
11. VP as a Shop Requirement? (Poll only topic, please vote)
12. I have noticed that after a certain amount of VP is reached, you can basically ignore that stat forever. Even with VP loss from loosing experience, I have not had to pay attention to my VP since I bought the last piece of equipment. I suggest that for more powerful items in the MD Shop (Or better yet, the spent credits shop), why not add a VP requirement and Cost to them? This would need to be scaled based on how many active days the item requires to be available, so that it would not disadvantage players grossly, however I do not think it would be hard to balance it. Please express your opinions in the Poll, I have locked the topic from replying.
13.
As someone above me mentioned, the whole MD economy is based on the MD shop. Every coin trade is in fact a credits trade. The person who bought the coins bought them with credits.
Since it is most likely me you are referring to, I'd just like to clarify that I didn't say the whole economy was based on that. You also have Wishpoints and Creatures like TS/GG funding the MD Economy. However, yes, almost the whole economy does derive from the MD Shop.
14.
But if you bought the drach for the usual 50 creds, that'd be 20 more for the game. The one bought by the potential seller already exists anyway, those 50 are spent and gone. If the new owner gets the old one for 30, that's 20 less than if he got a new one himself.
And what about in the instance that I illustrated, where you can only get it once per account? It is IMPOSSIBLE to buy it a second time. I already have a Reindrach. The ONLY way for me to get it is via another player. You can add to that list the Santa and Nutcracker as well. No matter what, the only way to have more than one is to buy off someone else. Thus, to trade with credits for these creatures INCREASES the amount of cash Mur gets. Then, when you consider the creatures you can't get from the shop (Dream Mutation, Mutant Drachorn, TS, GG), every credit is once again just pure profit. At no point is Mur taking a loss. The only creatures with the ultimate possibility of Mur taking a "loss" are the more common shop creatures, and excluding the SW and SS these are almost never sold for credits.
15. I understand where you are coming from, but I have to disagree (me being one of the people who can afford whatever I want most of the time, of course I would) Consider this: MR Holy One just sold a Reindrach to me (Note: this is the FIRST creature I have EVER purchased from a player, for coins/credits/otherwise). To Unlock this creature from the MD shop it would cost ~55 credits, and it is only available at one time of year, once per account. I paid 30, his asking price was 25 (I just thought it was worth more than 25). Consider if someone less financially well off than me had wanted a reindrach. Normally, they would need to spend ~55 credits, AT THE RIGHT TIME OF YEAR, to get it. From this case, they could get it at LESS than half price, at any time of year. Then, let us consider if we DO ban purchase of things via credits. What do we use instead? Coins, creatures, and items. Items are almost always worth far more than even a rare creature, and very few people are willing to part with them due to the way they are normally created (wishpoint+materials to create a character specific item). So while it happens, Item trading is not very viable. Creatures are another case, with them being the main trade good. However, the majority of valuable creatures are obtained via the shop. This means that you are paying credits for them anyway, and as I showed in my above example with the reindrach, it is quite easy to get things cheaper as it currently stands. That means that being able to buy things via credits directly actually helps to make things fairer rather than unfair. Now we move to coins. How are coins generated in the first place? (excluding Murvine intervention, of course) Via the MDShop, ie credits once again. There are certainly many ways of getting coins, such as gifts, quests, the shop, and trading, and these do serve quite a valuable place in the market, but ultimately they are only created via the expense of credits. There are a further two benefits of the current system. The first is from a buyers perspective in gaining credits over coins, and the second is another way that this method is, in fact, fairer. Firstly and quite obviously, credits are a lot more versatile (which says something considering how versatile coins are in the first place). Part of the appeal is that, if you have just gotten deep enough in the MD shop for the Sword and Shield items, if you sell for credits rather than coins, you can then turn those credits into the coins you would have otherwise gotten, with a nice stat boost attached. The second aspect, which helps to keep things fair, is that players who themselves cant afford to buy credits can sell things to other players for credits. This helps even the playing field between those who have the disposable income to pay, and those who dont. Now, all of this said, the above only really applies to someone who can't afford to buy credits selling things to get them another way. There is certainly a problem when you have people buying things for credits from others who can also afford to buy credits, as then you have a case of the rich getting richer and the rest of the community has a harder time gaining any benefit from it. This is why I have NEVER sold any creature (I only give them away) for anything, and why I have only ever purchased one creature by any means (although I have made offers in the past, I only make one offer and never haggle). Overall, while the above is worrying, there is not too much you can do about it without making things more unfair in the big picture.
16. I suspect it was more likely one of the advertisements on that site that was infected with a virus, rather than the site itself. Banner ads have become a rather effective random distribution device for viruses nowadays.
17.
oh, damn... if i knew this 2wo days before... heh. gl everyone!
Same, just went through two shop resets of tokens Ah well, good luck to all participants
18. Not on mine, Trend Micro Internet Security.
19. I'm going to be in the area in September/October for my Honeymoon, hoping to meet a few of you then...
20. The notice is a bit short for team based stuff, isn't it? [s]If anyone needs a dancer to help act out a story/poem/song, feel free to drop me a line. [/s](Assira the black is also an excellent choice, but I can't speak for her of course ) Just realized this starts at 1am for me, so I won't be able to make it Happy to help with Choreography though.
21. Happy birthday! You even got two topics, yay!
22. I thought this topic was about trying to figure out a way to decrease the number of people who used the minimal payment option to increase the number of tickets they got, and as a result to decrease the amount of cash that was lost to transaction fees >.> I don't really see anyone here complaining "Hurr, tombola isn't fair!" >.> No one is complaining about the methods you have used, to segregate the tombola's by payment type (while this confused me until the event, even I think it is a great idea to keep things fair, now that I understand it). [NOTE: I am only commenting on what is in this topic, since you made your post here and therefor seem to be saying it about the people here. If people are saying that in the Realm, I haven't heard it, but I agree that it is unfair of them to do so. These aren't prizes after all, but gifts]
23.
How about everyone who paid up the minimal amount of credits for Tombola, gets the equal chance for the main prize as anyone else who participates in the tombola (no matter the amount of money), while the biggest spenders also get secondary prizes for investing the most money during tombola... Like top 3 spenders. I think that would be correct for main-prize-equal-chance concept and it would be correct to those who invest more money
I've also been thinking along this line of thought, mainly in relation to the winners that aren't random but that mur picks himself. The other option is to have every $5 increment be worth 1 ticket (for paypal Tombola)/$10 increment be worth 1 ticket (PBC Tombola)/$5 over the first $50 be worth one ticket (Western Union). This should reduce the amount of people paying the minimal amount upto the amount they would otherwise have spent (A practice that I admit I am guilty of). One thing that I DON'T think would be a good idea is giving extra tickets to subscribers (for subscription payments), as this will lead people to join and cancel subscriptions just for tombolas. Subscription has its own benefits, which are quite impressive, and don't need any further benefit at all.
24. Yeah, no. Leet speak is just annoying, even if you can read it, and there wouldn't be any point to it. In MD we are encouraged to work towards having propper spelling and grammar so that everyone can understand us, this doesn't exactly fit with that. If you look at everything else you listed, they have practical and RP reasons. Being the nature of leet speak, it doesn't have any place within a fantasy RP setting.
