  1. Let me end the debate with the following solution: The Knight of the Bell - a symbol of strength in mind and body - was not going to be outwitted by a mouse. His adversary was nothing; yet a challenge could not be refused. Not wanting to lose precious time, he decided to end it in one swift move. He dismounted and unfolded his armor, revealing a secret weapon (!) - which blinked repeatedly and then purred. ''No need to run anywhere'', he sat down in the grass, lighting up a cigarette.
  2. I for one have participated in a few interesting quests, but I've forgotten the details of such. I am not against the idea of bringing back old quests, merely pointing out some difficulties. Well, if you want to go on with this idea, the first steps would be compiling a list with memorable quests (forum links would help in finding them out in the db) and requesting access. This is potentially long and sweaty work, but it can start with small steps, to see if it's worth it.
  3. *I think we can all agree on that one but there are some plans for it, I think Chewett mentioned those in a forum post I can't find *not sure who has access to RPCQ content; the thought of bringing old quests back is making me ask some questions: ''A25 is given priority now, but considering the burden clickables, triggers etc put on the server, they should be reserved for more important quests, right? so RPCQ-based quests should be live'' ''old quests allude to another MD, of a different reality - how do you choose what to keep and what to discard? by historical value, creativity, complexity or...?''
  4. I will not stand idle while my brothers suffer! Now, I'm not a particularly skilled cook, so I can't do anything fancy, but how about I show you a way of cooking meat? (sry, I couldn't do it MD-themed) What you need is: a pan frying oil meat an onion/garlic tomato sauce salt&pepper You start off by grabbing a nice piece of (pork) meat and cut it like so: Sprinkle some salt and pepper and let it sink in while you are finely chopping the onion or garlic cloves. Heat the oil, drop the onion/garlic and let it sink in for 20 secs, then drop the meat in the pan. Stir a couple of times in the first 4-5 minutes, adding more salt and pepper. Once done, cover with lid and let it boil/fry for about 15 minutes. Come back and assess the situation. If you appreciate it would only need 5-10 minutes to be done, it's time to drop the secret ingredient: Mix it well (uniformly) with the meat; it will give it a nice orange hue and add some sourness to the taste (not too much, though). You don't need to put much of the dry tomato sauce. You then let it fry in that until it's ready. Add more spices, if you want to (for example, I add more garlic - this time it will only get steamed a little under the lid). The end result is something like this: I know what some of you might be saying - this is just a cheap beginning-of-a-sauce. It's not a sauce, and it's not trying to be one. A sauce is much richer and tastier; this is a way of cooking meat that I'd call a 'diet' way. First off, you can really watch how much meat you are eating this way; and since it's not particularly tasty, you won't crave for more. I also found it to be useful as a 'filler' in all kinds of food combinations - just add a bit of proteins to whatever you have. You've got staple cereals - no problem; just salad? - no problem; mushrooms or beans? - goes well with it. If you like how that sounds, you can give it a try. Enjoy!
  5. Yes, you can try to define what a Minotaur represents, if you think you are able to. I don't think you can without having it, or knowing about levels and particularities, but you can try.
  6. I read 'guild' and I thought ''yea, there should be a guild just for that''. Just make a forum MEME guild.
  7. Aelis- thoughts and prayers* Fixed
  8. Remember Slotsh http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/17432-the-flying-barrel/? Well, he got in trouble again. As we all know, strange ladies lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a monarchy system...but they do exist. Slotsh prayed night and day in front of the Angien Lake for something. I don't know what that something was, but one day a 'thing' was washed ashore. It's a...a...a magical thing, as Slotsh found out. This object cannot be approached recklessly, as it bites - from the front, from the rear, and stabs with its horns from the middle. The bite is strong enough to break iron. Pushing it away is also a no go, because it apparently weighs at least a TON. Now if the new king finds out what happened, Slotsh is in for it. Your task is to aid the poor fool, by providing a mechanical solution. Remember, he is extremely weak at magic, but he has an impressive stash of junk - parts, metal scraps, wood, stone etc Just make sure that thing can be either thrown back into the lake, or hidden somewhere outside Marind Bell. Describe your idea, draw it (adding the year and MD), attach it to your post and send it to me (or post in this thread). You have to take into account the weight of the thing, the difficulty of approaching it and, if you plan on building something megalithic, where the materials can be found. Slosth has a small allowance, after all. This is 'the thing': Now, you have 2 weeks to end your entry, but it's gonna be worth it: a WP for best entry (if it meets quality check), anniversary barrens (if more participate, more will be distributed), spellstones (such as acousticremains), LR archers and maybe a drach...well, there are plenty of rewards, but it all depends on how many participate and how good your solutions are. Help Slotsh!
  9. I recently found myself telling someone ''Learn from this experience; get in the right state of mind to deal with it, then remember this state of mind and apply it whenever you are in similar circumstances.'' This is, according to Mur, what creatures in MagicDuel are - states of mind to master and use. When you're dealing with kids, for example, you must have a certain approach; when you're going to work, you also 'set' yourself in a certain way (can't say this, can't say that, we smile here, we shout here etc). The task of this quest is to grab 3 MD creatures, explain in a few lines what state of mind (you think) they represent and then give examples where you have used such creatures (nothing too specific, of course). You can post it here or send it to me by forum PM; you have until the end of the anniversary. The reward will be... knowledge. There's a certain someone who will provide accurate ''canon'' information on a creature or two if you entry is deemed worthy. Good luck!
  10. I think a simple tag shall suffice: MEMELORD 'nuff said
  11. I think these memes make absolutely no sense to someone who hasn't played MD. Like, Ledah's memes about the old interface...just lol...but some outsider'd be like WTF??
  12. javascriptvoid? you could never click on the door, as there's nothing behind it (for now)...afaik
  13. I don't think those who participated can vote? I liked Mago's frogtitute, Miq's baldness and Ailith's tuna. I also liked the random puns
  14. There are players that have written on their personal page memorable feats (some have dated them as well). Although the journal page idea is appealing, I think it doesn't make sense to have a personal page and a journal page, since content will probably be the same at core. I'd like to see such a page somewhere, though.
  15. I won't change to Chrome either, I'm with Mag.
  16. It's hidden in a box with a clown's head on a spring. Probably.
  17. I was going through a little book on Leonardo Da Vinci and found an interesting passage written by the man himself; it concerns water: I thought it a very good description - with the rhythms of poetry, yet thoroughly scientific; raising questions, adding various concepts, suggesting relationships with other elements. The four elements are also present in MD and I was thinking maybe the concept should be expanded? Is this ancient Greek system still intriguing or has become boring? How expansive is Leonardo's description? Could we write something as good for all of the elements? (I sure can't, but when you combine thoughts...) If there is a mild interest in this, we could make a small group and produce a paper.

    Hey, I'm bored

Huehue, I found a funny article: It goes on and on...look for War on Death
  19. I'd rather have my reward kept for your future quests, but if that is unsatisfactory, tell me and I shall pick one.
  20. I wish you a warm welcome on behalf of all Marind Bell citizens, and I want to say I am equally excited we get a new member after such a long time. Feel free to come forth with initiatives and ideas, we'll discuss all of them and see what works and what doesn't. Once again, welcome!
  21. If you want the buckets from Marind Bell capitol, you cannot have them, as they are restricted to MB citizens. The only buckets available for all are in MDA archives. In Loreroot there are tools that are restricted to citizens, but also items for everybody with enough loyalty; same for GG. The tools available for someone with no loyalty to anything are rather limited - and incentive to join a land; each land has some sort of monopoly over some resources.

The few times I asked something a LHO, they were fast, polite and helpful. However, I didn't want to ask them for help! I thought I should do it all on my own. You're also being told you have to discover things for yourself. Then, you get to know people and message them directly - or you get into a land/ally and solve your problems with the new companions. I didn't use the LHO system enough, and I probably wouldn't if I started out again. However, I don't really care how you name that group of friendly helpful players, or what kind of system it is - just make it
  23. Where can we find you? and when

Nah, I think it's cool, because At this moment we have a free spot in the mechanics of MD for a group that does public service of some sort, that involves communication, respect to new players, and steady continous activity. I wish to re-establish this part of the mechanics, but i will do so only when i will see a good opportunity. I thought this is what this thread is about, actually - what group could replace the LHOs? Because there was a Public Council, and when I joined MD, it was dragging its feet as well. Any ideas?
