Nep got a reaction from lashtal in The inner workings of Memory Stone Detectors [16th anniversary quest]
With the Golemus lab open to the public, I have found myself using memory stone detectors more often (yes, that is what they are called, and not memory stone collector like some people seem to think!). It is a fascinating tool, so I wanted to find out more about them... But the item description has been a huge letdown:
Seriously, what the hell... There is no way I can be satisfied with that, so naturally I came up with my own theories regarding the composition and inner mechanisms of these tools. But I can't be sure how deranged they are, so I decided to post a quest to ask the public about their ideas on the matter. And, after a brief discussion, Chewett was nice enough to sponsor it. So, here it is:
Your task is to explain how a Memory stone detector works.
What does it look like?  What are its various parts used for?  Consider the connection between regular stones and memory stones... How is it able to differentiate between the two?  What method does it use to detect memory stones?  Why does it have such a long cooldown?  You should answer the above questions, and add anything else that you feel like is necessary for a thorough explanation. Although it is not mandatory, you can even draw if you think it will help driving your point through (it doesn't have to be an artistic masterpiece either).
You should send your submission to me through forum DM, preferably with the title "[Memory stone detector quest]". It's not like there is any secrecy here, I just don't want people to draw ideas from others' submissions. I want to see how many different ideas you come up with, and whether there are any common themes in them (hopefully to determine how the detector works).
1 entry / person. So, please send your best one (though feel free to modify it if you come up with something better after you sent it).
I will publish all of them in this thread once the anniversary is over. The deadline for submission is the last day of the 2021 anniversary.
Entries will be judged by me, based on the following criteria:
Attention to detail (the more thorough the explanation the better). How "realistic" your idea is within the world/lore of MD.  Uniqueness of the idea.  Obviously, this is all very subjective. But I'm hoping we can all learn something from this quest. If I can't make up my mind, I'll ask someone with no stake in the contest to help determine the winner.
    Now for the rewards:
    (Sponsored by @Chewett)
    1st Place: 1 Anniversary creature + 1 Wishpoint
    2nd Place: 1 Anniversary creature
    3rd Place: 1 Anniversary creature
Obviously, there will be no WP if there isn't at least 3 submissions. I may decide to throw in a bunch of coins for those who didn't make it to the top 3, if we really have a lot of entrants.
This is all for now. Good luck!

I confirm that this creature satisfies the requirement for (3a), and so, Ledah has been granted a wish-point.

I am also quite impressed; the requirements for ascension of this creature, I had believed, were quite difficult, but mayhap, all were trivial for well-travelled veterans such as Ledah - the creature, at the time of posting the screenshot, was but a single day old.

    The reward inscription reads:

"For being the first to ascend the Pure Elemental to its final ascension, as part of the Quest of the Apothecary's Delight.
An incredible achievement, considering both how little time was taken, and the prohibitive ascension requirements of the Pure Elemental. Ledah is a true veteran, and mayhap, one day, will become a master of combat."

The reward for (1, 2, and 3b) remain available.

    A curious moss, is the Apothecary's Delight;
    she who plants it shall be depleted of happiness;
    she who waters it shall lose her beauteous appearance;
    she who tills of its soil shall be barren;
and she who consumes it shall find delirium.
    It is a parasite, in every regard; and yet, the Apothecary rejoices in its discovery;
as she who returns it to the endless cycle shall reap of unfathomable felicity.

~ Excerpt from Compendia Lorerootia, 16th edition
    __________________________________________________________________________________

A quest I have decided to release afore the commencement of the Anniversary celebrations, as it should allow those of the realm some additional time to complete it. For those that enjoy obtaining and nurturing creatures - this is a quest for thee!

It appears that the Unholy Guard has requested some samples of this moss; after all, he appears quite curious as to the delirium it should cause, and whether it is possible to recruit of new members to their order, by initiating them with this very moss.
He is seeking only of completely mature samples - those that have reached their final level of ascension; in return, he has chosen to divulge to myself some secrets in regard to another being, of which I am quite eager to learn.

I refer to a recent announcement - https://magicduel.com/page/Announcement/view/5153 - this, I believe, were that in question.

    Thy quest, then, were thus:

    1. Obtain this creature, and advance it to the maximal level, using any means necessary.

    2. Transfer me this creature (do send the CTC via Forum PM only - I will receive it to confirm that it is indeed the final ascension) - in return, I will grant thee this other-being (via CTC, as a Forum response); this is thine to keep, but is limited to one per entrant. This other-being is the reward in question. (This other-being is not the Anniversary Creature; it is one that has not yet been released).

For those that demonstrate of this feat, there are two further - either of which may be completed independently of the other:

3a. Advance the creature that I do grant thee in (2) to its final ascension, and prove this via a screenshot of the creature in this Forum Thread, with the Creature ID and thine identity clearly visible.
The first to complete this will obtain one wishpoint, and the victor will be determined by the timestamp of the message containing this. If this is not performed by the completion of the Sixteenth Anniversary celebrations, then this part of the contest will continue until a victor should arise.

3b. Obtain further samples of the fully ascended Apothecary's Delight, for the Unholy Guard. The one who is able to grant myself the largest number of these on completion of the Anniversary will receive another (unreleased, non-anniversary) creature, also possessed by the Unholy Guard.

Entries for this contest shall be open until the close of the Sixteenth Anniversary - other than that stated in 3a, which shall be open as long as necessary.

    Blessings.

    Hey everyone,
First of all, I’d like to thank Aia for inviting me to judge this quest ????

The entries were evaluated on 2 main aspects:
‘Spell-docity’: The resemblance of its content to a real spell document (both in content and spell choice) Progression: How each level gradually evolves in complexity and the cohesion between levels While I really enjoyed reading your submissions, I have decided not to award a wishpoint to the winner.
That being said, here is the final ranking:
    1st: Malediction (lashtal)
    2nd: Flight (Aia)
    3rd: Explosions (Nepgear)

    Congrulations to the winning authors!

PS: The entries were made anonymous beforehand so as to remove any bias. The authors were only revealed to me after I sent Aia my final decision.

    Ungod: 0,0,4,5,6,6
(As Ungod and dst did submit the same die, if their die were that which were victorious, I shall grant each an anniversary creature. Additionally, a victory against this die is worth double, as there are two separate opponents.)

A simple round-robin shall declare the winner, then:

    Demonic God vs NathanBlake (tie):
    Demonic God vs Nepgear (0:1)
    Demonic God vs Aelis (1:0)
Demonic God vs dst/Ungod (do note of identical entries; 1:0 and 1:0 respectively????
    NathanBlake vs Nepgear (0:1)
    NathanBlake vs Aelis (1:0)
    NathanBlake vs Ungod/dst (tie)
    Aelis vs Nepgear (0:1)
    Aelis vs Ungod/dst (0:1 and 0:1)
    Nepgear vs dst/Ungod (1:0 and 1:0)

    Final standings:

Demonic God defeated Aelis, dst and Ungod

This is my first time coloring a scene, and I like to focus on small things, even it can be unnoticeable & time consuming.

I don't exactly remember the first day of my journey, it was a long time ago...but I still remember the mixed feeling about it.
It was like playing an escape room, so many puzzles and hidden messages around me, I can't wait to click everything and search for clues. but there was no one in the Paper Cabin, then I met the Shades and the little girl (in story mode)...well, little bit creepy but I like it very much, the unknown is beautiful.

Also the Paper Cabin was like a safe room to me, I was extremely curious about the "outside world", but I always go back there when I feel lost. Although it's not the place for beginners anymore, it is still one of the meaningful place in MD.

Herewith, mine submission - Cow-Tree Phở - simplified from a family recipe of mine inhabitor.

Instructions are included for those who wish to create of it in the other-realm, also.
    Requirements were as follows:
Five units of pure elemental rain-water - enough to fill a large recipient
Two units of Bones, obtained of a cow that doth grow within Ailith's mythical Cow-Tree. Bones excavated from Necrovion will not suffice.
One unit of thinly sliced cow, also from the Cow-Tree
Three seedling-bulbs (preferably of the onion-kind)
One unit of rice-noodles; a rarity within this realm
A handful of ground aromatic herbs; a handful of whole aromatic herbs
    One handful of Golemian Rock-Salt
A handful of leaves from the basil-plant
    A sprinkling of ground pepper-corn
Twelve full erolin-spheres; alternatively, a full heat-storing jar (twelve thousand points shall suffice).

Fill of a large cooking-pot with elemental water. Source of some bones - a kilogram and a half thereof (I would hope, from the Cows in the Cow-tree, rather than that excavated within Necrovion) - that with much marrow were ideal for this recipe.
Sprinkle some ground aromatic herbs, and some that were not ground. (Those within the other-realm may use of some Five-Spice, and some whole star anise) - a generous handful shall suffice.

Place within two large seedling-bulbs (those of the other-realm may know of these as onions; the brown or the red equally suffice). Do not slice of these into smaller portions; some incomplete cuts shall suffice, such that the water may permeate of them, yet not cause of disintegration.

Add of some erolin-heat, and simmer for two to three hours, then, set aside to cool overnight (one of the other-realm may use a refrigerator to aid of this process).

Once cooled, one shall note of a coalescence atop the broth. Carefully remove of this and discard it.

To complete of the broth, add of some Golemian Mineral Salts to taste; one of the other-realm may, in preference, use of fish-sauce.

Prepare of some rice-noodles; these are indeed quite rare within the realm; one must find a place to grow of rice, and reap of it, and cast them into flat sheets; one blessed of the other-realm may find it easier to purchase of these, and mine inhabitor doth quite recommend of that which were fresh, and not dried. If one may obtain of the fresh kind, soak in boiling water for two minutes, and strain of the water.

Add of sliced onion-bulb, and of raw, thin slices of cow, from the mythical cow-tree.

Finally, ladle of the broth (ideally, it were close to the boil at this time) over the dish, and sprinkle of some ground pepper-corns and basil-leaves.

One so inclined may add of bean-shoots, or of further heat-spices, but this were not mine own preference.
Serve hot; stir to cook the beef until it were cooked to thine own taste.

Nep reacted to Aia del Mana in The Economy - Resources
This opinion I do hold, in terms of resources.
Presently, if one should require of a certain resource, she merely obtains of the tool required, and gathers of it herself.
In the other-realm, if one doth require of such resources, the preferred method were to pay a levy to another who hath profession to provide of it. In example, one who doth require of bread shall pay the baker, and receive in return. The baker shall require significant effort to create of this bread, and so to recuperate of her investment, she hath trained herself well, and purchased of large ovens, and hath made contracts with those that supply her flour.
If one should require resources to have value, they must be scarce, or require of significant effort to create, or have desirable purpose. An example of this were the Memory Stone - this were sufficiently scarce, doth require of a specialised detector, and were immediately purposeful as a conduit for spell-imprinting.

As to alliances, their structure and importance in MD is being reworked on the backend. Its no secret I and many others in MD have agreed that the current setup, especially the loyalty requirements of the leader, is not very "MD".
The initial idea of loyalty determining the leader was always thought to be good. However since loyalty was gained in a number of ways that are not representing actual "Loyalty" to the land, it became pretty moot.
Many of those who  read this will have been asked about their thoughts on alliances over the past month, by a number of people. I have asked a couple of people to talk to people and gets ideas for a better "alliance" structure. Its something that has been on the back burner for years because its never really sat well with it. Once I can summarise the opinions I will be posting it publicly and then people can give their final opinions before I finalise an idea and start planning the changes codewise.

Trouble is, unless given meta knowledge by those who were there, nobody else can join in the AL because the AL still hasn't caught up to the actual reality of the game. The Red Service is months since over yet the AL is still stuck covering the middle of it:
It has indeed been dragging on for too long. It would be understandable if the organizers were still waiting for MRF to return, since he was one of us "summoners" and he did have a task of finding some mp3's to spar with in Necrovion in front of the Little Old Man. MRF worked separately and his efforts at the time were overshadowed by all the hype about the Eclipse. However, even if MRF returned now, it would be a separate arc, especially with the Little Old Man changed to what it is now. As such, how many months should it take for the AL to at least finish the Red Service arc when there's already a log of it posted up on the forums? How many remember the green text message right after the ceremony pointing at the dark clouds gathering above Necrovion? Did anything even happen there then or was it just a false foreshadow?
As for the altars being blocked... It's a terrible choice either way. If they are meant to be restored by the players, then the clues given for that are too scarce for RP right now. If it is a story element, then it has outstayed its welcome in an arc that should already be finished. If it is just meant to cause an uproar later to get some fire going when the action dies down... well, congrats, it kind of did that but at what cost.

I don't think you can send a message back to your past self, since as stated above, everything resets. But, I think there is still a way to escape the loop.

I've illustrated the timeline with a single line. It has a point where the reset happens, and a period of time before that when you are aware of the situation.
Basically, in the short time you have left until the reset you will have to do something so outrageous/extraordinary that it makes it impossible for the loop to continue.
What if you never reached the reset point, or to be more precise, "jumped over it"?
In short, you will have to die.
Let me explain. Shortly before the reset happens, you have to put yourself in the state of clinical death somehow. For example, you could hang yourself. But, you have to arrange it in a way that somebody who can give you CPR finds you shortly after and saves you.
The point of this plan is that, at the point of time the reset happens, you no longer exist. Of course, your body is there, but it isn't your body that is going back, it's the "you" part that is currently dead.
If done right, by the time you come back to life you have already passed the reset point so the loop won't happen.
The main problem with this plan is that it's highly risky. You have to die as close to the reset point as possible, and have to be brought back to life as soon after the reset point as possible. This is because you have to minimize the time you are dead or you risk suffering brain damage, or you will actually stay dead because too much time has passed. You will also have to make sure somebody who can help actually finds you, or else, you will also stay dead.
Of course, I'm saying this purely on a hypothetical level, I do not endorse suicide.
