1.
3) How was your quest experience? > Copy the Quest Voting page for this one. Troll is an offensive word, and name-calling does your own image no kindness.
That i actually find quite nice, as it's based on one of the more popular fictions of today. Reminds me of good days http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Ordinary_Wizarding_Level#O.W.L._scores
2. Indeed, i'd like to see a rating for organization (though i can already see all of us failing) And i'd suggest 'time taken' to not be used, because of Einstein's argument. Maybe a fun/thrill rating instead. I can imagine many quests that go by quickly, but are no fun, and wouldn't think of them as better than quests that take long, but make people enjoy themselves.
Ok...now a bit of feedback. The overall idea is very good and in theory it should work flawlessly.
Thanks
The problem was that there were too few active players who concentrated on getting the number rather than keeping the stones hot because those active players were balanced (like Lightsage, Ratbert, Clock, Shem) or were not affected by heat + a low number of battles (new players like Dan). So for them it was just a wait, see it be the first who sends the PM with the answer. I was probably the only imbalanced one (with almost 200 difference which translated into 200 seconds - it's HUGE). So I would suggest a better incentive for players to heat the stones.
I almost would've launched the quest with an age factor, so that any active day beyond 100 gave you an additional second waiting time... But that seemed too cruel It was really tricky to find a sensible value for the delay. If i use any kind of stat to lower the time, vets have an advantage. If i use days, you can't do anything to actively lower the waiting time to improve your chances. I thought heat would be a smart way because it'd force you to decide if you want to go for a re-heat or to read the number when the stone is getting cold. And i've worked on that factor for a week, because it's the essential part of the quest, before i got to something as sensible as heat. The balance factor just came in because it's my opinion that constant, long time activity and work to get balanced should pay off in terms of rewards every now and then. (And because it's one factor that many newbies have and many vets don't.)
Then, there was the timing - once you knew when the stones would cool down you'd just forget the rest of the day, come like 1 hour before the last one cools down, get all the others, get the last one and ta da! I would suggest some tasks in between (to add a variable which depends entirely on the player's skills - it can be a riddle, something combat related or skills related or anything) in addition to the waiting time. This way doesn't matter if you started earlier than the rest or later - it's all up to you how fast you do your tasks. Maybe have something like: player 1 did task 1 in 10 mins - this will reduce waiting time by x amount and he can use that bonus on whatever stone he chooses; player 2 completed task 1 in 5 mins - this reduces bla bla - you get the main idea.
Tasks would've been interesting, yes, but i honestly couldn't imagine any tasks for that. In my head, the participants were running like mad to get numbers and re-heat stones, and would only have done a task that was so short it didn't stop them too long. And one of that kind would be so simple that anybody would've done it. With that in mind, i decided against additional tasks and instead gave a little gap by default. Speaking of which, there's also a reason for the gap to exist at all. I've had the choice between leaving a gap between read and re-heat or not, and went with the first because i didn't aim for a 50 hour online marathon like head contest. That's not an achievement imo. The gap was rather small, just 50 seconds with perfect balance and 0 heat, and that seemed sensible. If you miss the gap, you might get re-heated and the stone would be out again for 20 minutes. (Originally i intended to use full heat, but 4400 second is too long for the effort it takes, so i've cut that to heat/4)
can we have more scattered clickies next time? it's almost crowded in one place
With viscosity, the location of things is a factor that could decide the winner. I went with places without viscosity so new players could compete. If i had stones in Golemus, because that's convenient for me, people would (rightfully, imo) complain that GG people had better chances. So i'd need to go with at least 4 lands to even out the land loyalty advantages. 4 lands would mean 4 gates, and suddenly you'd need to have the LR guards down, enough AP to cross the bridge to GG and connections to get into Necro. Not very nice towards anybody under 1000 days, i think.

Hot Stones

Pity, i had hoped hell would break loose in the end... But all we got from it was a spell spree. -.- And the winner is: dst! I hope for some feedback, it was a rather experimental thing after all. I must admit that i was not entirely satisfied with the way it ended. Stay tuned for the next quest! And don't forget that i'm also rewarding charms to people who try to make creative, enjoyable quests themselves!

The charm is consumed when it's used. You can take one thing, that's all. (Or store one thing, if you wish so.)

That's obviously the case. There's also a clear advantage to people who don't have any appointments on this fine sunday, to people who can control their heat, to people who were balanced before the quest started... It's not my fault if somebody else creates a quest that doesn't allow you to play normally. I don't even require a sign up, something i very much intended to do to have better control over alts. You are free to come and play, or not.

Hot Stones

Hey folks, as promised, here goes the first Drach Charm Quest! I've ran around with my trusted Drachorns and searched for 6 stones around MB and NML. I've had each stone engraved with a number, then turned it over and had my babies breath onto it to heat them. As they are, you probably won't get to turn them over, they are just too hot. But over the next day, they'll likely cool off again. If you find a stone, you need to use the password 'Hot Stones' to get in. You win this quest by sending me a message with the SUM of all the numbers i left behind. Drachorns Flames are tricky, though. Some will find them hotter than others. The closer you are to balance, the cooler they will feel, and the more heat you carry around with you (including erolin devices), the hotter they will feel. So you might want to rid yourself of your heat and get balanced to increase your chances... And if you feel sneaky, you can invest your own heat to make the stones hot again and make sure the others who want the numbers can't get them... Good Luck, and i honestly wonder how this will play out. Only one prize, a drach charm. (Also, the stones have an evil log that shows me if you saw the number or not. You'd better show up on all 6 logs if you send an answer, obviously with the one account that wants to win.) [Also, for the sake of fairness: There is one location with more than one stone, and one stone is NOT on the ground.]
8. problem solved. We can do our work without your help, BFH Just give us a little time, we have other things to do, even more so with Chewie forum-dead
9. I don't as long as the supplies are there. If i want something and know that the chance is slim for it (or me) to be there the next day, because somebody else would deplete or the location is hard to get to, i'd take it.
10. Of course. Mostly to provide quest rewards, a few for sale, and some for my own use.
11. Someone's messing with the red button! PANIC!

12. A nice thought indeed. So nice, in fact, that it deserves a thread all to itself. Split to New Ideas. I'm not sure if the worshiper-worshiped connection is quite as big as it should be. I mean, without intending offense to any of the recent MP6, but we don't quite match up to the earlier protectors, imo. Even Raven did more, and i think most vets would agree that he did a rather poor job compared to Savelfuser. I wonder if you have any thoughts about how to rate this, though. One might be a highly capable protector and foster worshipers very well, but they could demand impossible things and just grab the compensation. The protector still can't pick his worshipers after all, they can just come and go.
13. Maybe i'm missing something important here, if so please enlighten me. Seeing that the WPs 'remember' what they were spent on, wouldn't it be possible to reset them point by point, technically? Obviously that's not a good idea for everything, like points spent on research points, locations or clickable access, and possibly also for the 'increase VE' thingies (not sure if they record how much that increase was at the time), but maybe it could be possible to the take wishes back that you spent on spells? For example, if i had spent a wish to get 4 guardian army, and decide that this spell just isn't worth it, i might want to take that wish back and spend it on something else instead, maybe another spell, maybe access to scripting, who knows. That could, for example, be implemented as shop feature somewhere deep down the extra features section, probably 3-5 uses per reset, and each credit spent allows you to, for the lack of better words, relocate a wish. [This might also help with complaints about spells that work in questionable ways, compared to their description.]
14. Hey buddies, I think the majority heard of me one way or another already, so i'll skip the introduction. I've recently been granted the ability to give out Drach Melodic Charms, the item that allows you to take something from the Drachorn Lair. That includes, but isn't limited to, Drachorns. I'm in the lucky position to work with very little restrictions on my role, i can basically give out charms as i see fit. One thing that won't happen is that one gets sold by me, and i hope you all understand that any attempts to get one in exchange for... well, whatever you think i might want, i guess, will be ignored. I trust that good old dst will have an eye on me, too. I will create as many quests as my schedule allows myself, i aim for one every two months. I'll also try to sponsor quests from other people if they look promising, and some will be granted to (relatively young) people who put in their efforts to make MD a better place in general. Specially for that last point, i also request help from the people out there. If you happen to play a quest, a game, or anything else that you found particularly well made and entertaining, let me know. I won't have the time needed to try everything myself, but it'd be a shame if something great went unrewarded. Summary: Don't try to get drachs from me, you won't succeed, and if somebody makes something happen that you particularly like, let me know. I still read everything on the forum, if you just give a quest a thumbs up, i'll also notice. Thanks for your attention, and now get to your desks and write the quest that'll earn you your charm!
15. Since there are so many rewards in here that only come out if there are 10 or more participants, i'll sponsor this with 1 Melodic Charm ONLY IF the requirements for Mur's rewards aren't met. (Also, this was planned since the quest started, but i needed to wait for the Wookie to hit the magic buttons... Can't sponsor stuff i don't control, can i? )
16. Feedback after upload: In the first part of the bugs and exploits section, it says 'A bug or exploit is a mechanism that was not supposed to exist in that manner. You can contact us regarding these matters at', and then a blank field. I assume this should be the bugs address in a similar style as the council address?
17. You're most likely frogged. Log in with your ID or your e-mail address instead. Moved to Q&A.
18. Lots of content moved to http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/13754-massive-mod-power-abuse/ Further posts will be moved there, too.
19. So, the title says it, i spent a bit of time moving, merging and other fancy mod things to get this thread together. Also, i'm not sure if it all works as i want, so bear with it if i need to edit a bit. There are different points in the posts i moved here, and all of them have some importance, but my point is that Fang is abusing the model of the poll with his 'petition'. It very much reminds me of the 'elections' some countries had lately, where you can pick one choice, or stay at home. And then the outcome is a wonderful 90% approval, leaving out all who didn't vote, of course. So, here's my poll, which i honestly don't care much about because i don't want to achieve anything with it. I'd just like to have it at hand if Fang shows up with his 'petition' backed by maybe 10 anonymous votes and declares that he is enacting the community's will. And yes, you can discuss all you want here, because discussion is the base of forming an opinion in my understanding. And, other than some advocates of the use of polls,, i ask all mod to NOT hide posts here. Valid point or not, they can stay unless they are against the rules, this is why i started it in offtopic. If people abuse the privilege of free speech to clutter my thread with spam, i'll handle it myself, because that's my massive mod power abuse thread. Bah, and now it looks as if i edited Darigan's post. Mhew, happens. It's the massive mod power abuse thread, live with it.
20. Many thanks for the compressed log (And sorry for editing your post )
21. I'll request Grido to ban you for a month everytime you go to MP7, then. Because that's my ideals. You see how ridiculous you are, right?
