I think the balance is right, if not spot on. I feel we have plenty of freedoms, but also there are still a number of "automated" (or whatever) surprises offered, too.

I think these are good points you raise, Pip, and I know that you and I have talked at length about what can be done, and you have put yourself forward in a role of a somewhat mediator, which is appreciated. But, that raises another question, what if, as in this case, the King does not wish to speak to the rebels or is absent for large amounts of time? Trying to speak objectively here, I believe the burden of action must fall to the Rebels, as they are the ones dissatisfied with the King/Queen and frankly, it comes down to either fish or cut bait. A stalemate doesn't do anyone any good, especially if one side, or both, are not willing to at least have a courteous discussion about things. The whole point of a rebellion should be to get things accomplished, not just raise a stir, then sit around fighting and bickering. I think the fact that the Rebel system was put in place is tool enough for those who wish to make real, [b]positive[/b] change. I don't believe that Rebels can [b]only[/b] get things done with the help of Mur, and in the end, I believe that there was too much pressure placed on him to step in, and I own up to my part in that pressure. However, if a rebellion feels that there are repeated offenses, or that their voice is being ignored or silenced by the King, there are ways to make it heard; the Council, gathering support of other people and the use of a mediator, among other things. One of your question was, "does a rebellion get anything done?". I think it is too early to tell, but I do believe that there needs to be a way for citizens who are unhappy with their Ruler to speak out, and to make changes if there are enough people to support the change. The Rebel system may not be perfect, but I do not believe enough time has passed to say that it has failed or that it needs to be altered.

So, the chatban lasts for [u]4 hours[/u], so I'm told. That seems [b]INCREDIBLY[/b] excessive. I understand that only one person can be banned at a time, and that there is, or will be, a cool down. But for those that are not on MD for long hours at a time, this seems a bit unfair. Of course, those that rebel will have to lose some rights, but if someone is rebelling, you most likely have an issue with a King and that King might be more inclined to want to shut you up because you are rebelling, not because what you are saying is inflammatory or negative. Being a rebel has its price, but not being able to speak anywhere in MD chat for 4 hours seems like a brutal muzzle for those in opposition to the Authority, not a real way for Kings to squelch an uprising. *edit* I don't want to just state what I think is wrong and "moan" so I will also offer suggestions. I would think that a ban of 30 minutes would be long enough to be a deterrent to rebellious speech, but would offer enough freedom to still actually be involved in MD. Alternatively, the 4 hour ban could remain but perhaps for every 5 or so silences, there would be a deterrent for the King. As in, *half a point given for every 5 casts of the Rebel Queller. *or for every 1 cast, The King would also not be able to speak. I just feel there needs to be something to balance the 4 hour ban, but that is just my opinion.

I have a question about the chatban part. From the Announcements: "Kings will receive items to supress rebels from talking in chat but they wont be able to suppress groups" *I understand there is strength in numbers, but what is considered a group? 2 or more, or a higher number? *What is to stop a King from silencing all the individuals at once? A cool down, or something else? *Must the target have the "rebel" tag to be silenceable? *edit* Thank you, Yrth and Rendril for answering my questions (and Grido for going rogue for testing purposes.)

I do not contest your citizenship, I am not disputing that you do indeed belong in Necrovion. But you have no right be King. Those that would speak for the Dynasty did so when they allowed the power to be transferred to the current King. If this was so important to you, you should have made damn sure you were there to take it, or that Peace not give it away. The Dynasty lost all rights to the throne when Peace willingly gave Jester, a “commoner”, the crown. This abdication entitles you to nothing, Rask. This hubris of yours, so clumsily disguised as strength, only proves that you have only your own purposes to serve, not the good of the people of Necrovion, who you seek to speak for, yet do not know. Legacy is [i]far[/i] different from birthright. Khalazdad was a warrior, not some fawning family man. He was not “Daddy”, he was a commanding force of nature capable of teaching brutal lessons. You know this as well as I. It is [b][u]this[/u][/b] spirit that I uphold, it is [b][u]this[/u][/b] legacy that I value.
