Guillak got a reaction from No one in A more readable Adventure Log
I was going through the AL once again, and I was wishing there was some version of it that would be less painful to read, especially for "bulk-reading" like most newcomers [should] do. In particular, its presentation in the interface is adapted for reading newly added fragments, but I would have liked a version where all fragments would be grouped by chapter, which was already proposed long ago [url="http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/1439-side-story-adventure-log/page__view__findpost__p__7979"]here[/url] but was never done (at least not that I could find on the forum ...). So I made it:

    [attachment=3302:AL.pdf]

I hope altering the order of events is not a sacrilege ...

It is still quite a raw result. There are probably some bugs that appeared during the conversion, and many possible improvements to do. I am open to all suggestions! If you find it useful, I may spend a bit more time to try to make it look better, for instance with a more MD-biased look.

If you appreciate it, I intend to do a similar thing for the announcements, although this one still grows. [size=2]Hopefully the Adventure Log too will grow again some day ...?[/size]

Edit: uploaded a new version (changed the font + various minor improvements)

Guillak got a reaction from Chewett in Your Musical Portrait
This is a simple game: get your musical portrait drawn by MD population. How do others see your character?

    [b]~ Rules ~[/b][list]
[*]By entering the game, you gain access to the list of all other participants.
[*]You assign a single tune (YouTube link only) to all participants you know, including yourself. Choose the song that you think best portrays the participant. Anything is allowed: don't hesitate to put up songs in other languages than English, purely instrumental pieces are even strongly encouraged; the music itself is more important than the lyrics in my opinion (although they are supposed to be related). Avoid putting the music that participants are using in their papers ...
[*]Wait for others to do the same ...
[*]... and enjoy your "musical portrait" by listening to the songs that have been chosen for you. All songs are anonymous, so you don't know who chose what for you!
    [/list]
    That's it.

    [i]Rewards:[/i][list]
[*]You get to know how people view you, in music!
[*]To be happy, surprised, disappointed, etc., and hopefully to have fun.
    [/list]
You won't get any shiny thing, and I kindly ask any potential generous sponsor NOT to propose any reward. In this game, you just receive as much as you give.

[b]~ What if there are participants I don't know? ~[/b]

Stalk them, find them, meet them, talk to them, (R-)play with them, learn about them! By entering the game, you should be ready to go meet all the people you don't know yet, young or old.

    [b]~ How to start ~[/b]

To enter the game, just go to Awiiya's way, check the Oak Log, and say "Musical Portrait". Everything has been made automatic in the clickie. It is just a matter of typing a short description and copy/pasting the link of the song, just like with the mood panel. Note that for storage limitations reasons, all fields are limited in length—use the "share" links of YouTube if possible.

Warning: the first time you activate the script, you are automatically added to the list of participants. This means that your name will appear in all participants' list, and the interface will invite them to assign a song to you. Don't do it unless you're really willing to participate. There is no "give up" button, but I can remove you manually from the list of participants if necessary.

Under the list of participants and songs you have chosen, you will find the list of anonymous (unless they are "signed" ... Well you can try to guess) songs that have been assigned to you, which obviously is empty the first time you activate the script. You can see your own list, but not that of the others. For each song, you can leave a short comment in return for the person who chose it for you, and it will appear next to your name in his/her list of participants.

The clickie has been well tested, but if you notice anything strange, don't hesitate to tell me!

    [b]~ I can see everything ~[/b]

I have access to all data obviously, and I can find who submitted what. But I won't spend my time monitoring everything, I don't have time for that. That said, if you find some inappropriate or badly unpleasant content, just tell me and I'll remove the content, or even the participant. If it is serious, it will be forwarded to the appropriate MD authorities.

Please keep it enjoyable, I don't want it to become another reason for bickering ...

    [b]~ Many thanks to ~[/b]

Brulant for discussing the initial idea, Burns for discussing the final idea, Chewett for answering all my questions on MDScript, Awiiya for allowing the use of his clickie, MD Council and Rendril for allowing the use of consequent data storage, and all people who helped testing the clickie (your entries are still there, btw)!

Now go and have fun! There might be a second part in a couple weeks.

Edit: YouTube links only, and I finally use multiple storages as Council and Rendril allowed me.

Just make it similar to the potions you can find lying around, click it and it's used on yourself, no inventory necessary. I would honestly prefer a bit of chance involved though, rather than just choosing what stat you'd get. Makes it a bit more exciting.

Oh right, also colour is probably an issue, but there are other ways to represent differences between things.

Long time ago, in Magic Duel you were able to find some intelligent, philosophical and unique views, discussions on various things...
Today, there are less and less people here, and even less interest in such topics. It comes down to grinding in one form or another, or just idling, waiting for better times to quit (not to involve more, but to quit).

If we're going down, let's do it properly.

I would like to ask some willing folks that have something to say to use this topic as a kind of blog. Show your views about some interesting topics that have missed they eye of regular people, something possibly from your experience. Politics, wars and its troublesome times, unnoticed lying propaganda on the news, music, life stories, culture in general... Reply to each other, initiate new discussions, learn.
I will pause few days and then I will post something myself, hope I find something here from you guys in the meantime.

Guillak reacted to lashtal in Resource skills and how they effect collecting
What I had in mind was slightly different, but I can see your points (I'm referring to Eon and Valldore).

I think that being skilled in gathering resources means also being able to do it in the most efficient way, allowing the needed time for them to regenerate.
Depleting a scene means decreasing the scene's potential to (re)generate said resource.
I'm not saying it's immoral to deplete resources and my post wasn't "against" those who enjoy depleting.
I'm saying it's un-efficient from the resource's point of view.

Ok, bones is probably unhappy as an example, not all of you has free access to graves and morgues...
Let's take basil. Being skilled in gathering basil, imo means also knowing how much you can get of it without damaging the plant itself. It's the plant's point of view I am considering,

That's why I was thinking of a penalty in said skill. To me, from the resource's point of view, depleting means being rough, not skilled.

Guillak reacted to Rumi in Inherent risk in using kill items and spells
There has been a lot of concern recently over regular killing of players, mostly resulting in discussion of resurrection practices.

Is it feasible that we could increase the risk of killing? One idea I have is make a kill attempt a roll of the dice. A good roll results in success, a bad roll results in failure, and there should also be a chance for the killer to die. Imagine I try to kill Seigheart with a stone dagger and he fights back and I perish by my own weapon.

Another possibility would be to incorporate spells or items that could cause the same effect. Seigheart tries to kill me but I have cast a mirror enchantment which causes his kill spell to target himself. This could possibly even be added to mirror ritual spell as an added effect.

Possibly I could have an item in my inventory that improves my chance of reversing a kill spell.

It seems that an inherent risk of death would make me think twice before attempting to kill someone else.

    Your thoughts?

(Thanks for being my dummy, Seigheart)

The connection is obvious. Fang wanted dst to start insane rumors, and knew that anything he could imaginably do would lead dst to do this.

So dst was the pawn all along!

I do not believe Fang was killed for being a TK nor for his association with you.

In real life, the possession of stolen property is generally only a crime if the buyer knows it to be stolen. I did not know that, despite your allegations to the contrary.

Oh, wait, you're defending Fang after he stole something for you? That makes even less sense.

I did not offer to buy your leash from Fang. I merely suggested he give it to me before he died because I was not aware that the dead could transfer items. Knowing that my blade would end his life (at least for a while) I thought that was one way I could alleviate his predicament (in the event that you should require the leash to be moved about; I'm sure you don't like being stuck in one place).

I'll follow this post with a total general summary of all the discussions. It should be up in the following hours.

Clearly we should do what i think because i am always right and know the best

    --------------------------
Disclaimer: The above comment is sarcasm, if you do not understand what this word means please search for it, if you still cannot comprehend the concept ignore the above, the following post is perfectly normal.
    --------------------------

Everyone can say they know best, and it should be done like this, but in the end no one has the right to say it should be done this way except murry, as its his game.

You can easily select any cross, section of MD, and provide reasons why their specific group or section should choose how it should be done to be perfectly honest.

If you want my personal view, i feel that the tutorial should be largely planned out by the newer people in the realm, with advice coming from the vets who know all the rules and other reasons "Why" MD does things like it does. Its simple for a new player to say, this doesnt make sense, when they havent experianced MD enough to know it does actually. But this such a point would point out that something needs to be moved somewhere else or explained better.

Unto everything there is a reason, so what is the one for this?

Guillak reacted to Rumi in viscosity altered by weather effects
Entire realm viscosity increase/decrease added once to each scene based on weather type. Maybe -10 for sunny, +10 for mild rain, +20 for heavy rain, +30 for storm, +40 for snow. Something like that? Maybe different alterations in different lands. Example: storm has different viscosity effect on GG than other lands.

Guillak reacted to Chewett in Re-organisation of Top Links
I dislike messiness, so im going to get some communtiy action and see what others think

Ignoring all special links and such that LHO's have and such. i came to this as the list of links currently in the rightbar:

[Wishpoints Top] [Same country] [Most Popular] [Active Veterans] [Item Owners] [Adventure Log] [Inventory] [Wishpoints] [Personal page] [Notebook] [Webcam] [Mood panel] [Public Logs] [Options]

And these are the ones on the topbar:

[View announcements] [Adventure Log] [Quests] [Calendar] [Challenges] [MD Court] [ Game intro] [Known issues] [Restrictions] [Active Forum Posts] [MDNP][Treasury] [Search] [MD Toolbar] [Free credits]

Thats a lot of links... I feel these could be re-organised, moved and swapped around.

Some of the links have little relevelence nowadays, like the Treasury and MDNP, Known issues is very old as is challanges..

Do people think that the interface could do with some cleaning up? or do they think that all these links here are a "good thing"

[b]Current Summary of Suggested items (see edit time for last edited time):[/b]

[Personal page] [Notebook] can be moved to your ~papers~ link under chat also

Move [Wishpoints Top] [Most Popular] [Active Veterans] [Item Owners] onto one link where all are visible

Challanges and Quests links can be merged into one, updating them both and doing some nice formatting
