A small background story: Meme was very good at spreading rumours and information as a child. As one might guess, this caused her to be hated by her community. At the age of 8, she was exiled from her village and left to live on her own. Before she left, she stole a small blowgun, a vial of poison that causes paralysis to spread throughout the body, and lots of darts. After wandering around for awhile, she came upon a magical portal that led her to the realm of magicduel. How the poison works: If someone is hit in the arm (for instance) by a poison tipped dart, their arm will slowly lose the ability to move. The poison will relatively quickly spread throughout the body. After twenty minutes, the entire body will be paralyzed.

The difference between animals eating other animals and humans eating other animals is that humans stuff animals in tiny cages and stuff them so full of food that their legs collapse under the weight. Maybe if I lived in a family that hunted animals for food, I'd eat animals. Ideally, if someone wanted to eat an animal, they'd either hunt it themselves or get it from someone who has hunted it. It's the factory bred and slaughtered animals that I find disgusting. I'm not sure whether or not vegetarians are beneficial to animals, and that's why I'm a vegan. After all, once an animal is done producing milk it'd die, and not eating that would be a waste. While we evolved so that it was possible for us to eat meat, our bodies are actually meant to consume a much smaller amount than many humans consume. If we're going to make biological arguments for eating animals, at least consider that biology also dictates that we should eat far less meat than most do. And again, I find that there's a huge difference between animals eating animals to survive, and humans eating animals for their taste. Imagine if all carnivores and omnivores ate animals even when they didn't need to. The whole world would go crazy!

This is why I'm vegan. While some animals, (and a majority of humans) have to eat animal products to survive, I'm fortunate to be able to afford being vegan, and so I am. I fully understand that in some places, especially in the states, Japan, etc., it's almost impossible to be vegan. I also don't believe in killing creatures merely because they taste good. Thus, even if I got the chance to eat ethically raised animals, I wouldn't want to since the only reason why I would is because it tastes good (and in those cases, I'd rather have sushi). I find it interesting how the smarter a creature is, the more it's cruel. Take dolphins for example. They can be absolutely evil, as can we of course. While I'm not a Christian, maybe there's some truth to the fruit of knowledge causing evil. Oh, and I heard from a documentary that the smile evolved from the 'fear face'. That has several implications. This is a good documentary though.

I'm Jackfruit, as can be seen if you look at my entry. I'm somewhat ashamed of it. I didn't properly allocate nearly enough time for it, and it's such an awesome quest idea! What's done is done though, and I'd always love talking to anyone about what things mean in MD. The Coloured Paper A paper printed on coloured paper What? The Coloured Paper is a general, all use paper, that anyone can publish anything in. It can contain news, stories, poems--anything. The only limitation is that it can't contain anything that would be against the rules to say in MD's chat. While there used to be different colours for different categories, there won't be now at first. I'll create the categories once I've received a sufficient amount of content to know how best to make them. Where? The Coloured Paper is now located at the book in the Clash of Ages but it might end up being published in multiple places throughout the realm. Note: What's in the paper now is from how it used to work. Once I start seeing new submissions, it will get reorganized. Who? Anyone can either submit content to the paper for free, or apply to be an official Wordsmith. A new wordsmith gets paid 1 silver for every ten pages that s/he gets published in the paper. If s/he's skilled enough, s/he may advance a rank. The ranks (and how much they get paid) are: Wordsmith: 1 silver/10 pages Bronze Wordsmith: 1 silver/7 pages Silver Wordsmith: 1 silver/5 pages Gold Wordsmith: 1 silver/3 pages Magic Wordsmith: 1 silver/1 page Note: A wordsmith can opt in and out of pay whenever they choose. Their rank won't change based on whether they want to get paid or not. However, a wordsmith cannot ask to be paid for past work that they've done for no pay (to prevent abuses). I might decide to give them silver out of my own pocket for that past work, but I don't have to. When? Whenever I choose to publish. Note, that writers will not be asked to stick to deadlines: However, wordsmiths will only be paid when their submissions are published. Right now, there are no real 'issues' of the Coloured Paper. I also agree that it's biased. I didn't join the quest because I was told to expect the worst and I trusted Seigheart to keep his word on that part. Mind you, depending on how things go, maybe I should have joined--but that's another story. The closest option (that's not 'other') to this reason (ie. 'Didn't join because of the potential consequences') is 'I didnt want to be trolled participating in seig's quests like before' and that is definitely biased. It would be better to put 'feared the consequences of joining' and leave it up to people to say why they feared the consequences. My goal as a Protector is to gather a following of people who want to change something. I'm going to be thinking about several projects myself that have the goal of changing things. However, I'd also love to help my adepts with any things that they want to change. Basically, I'm interested in knowing everyone's personal projects and goals and how I can help. This doesn't mean that I will or can help with everything, though! Some things I won't do because I think they will cause the realm to be a lot less conductive to change in the long run. Otherwise, I'd be happy to help! Anyways, my question is, what do you want in me as a Protector and how can I help you change? I'd also love the opinions of people who don't plan on being my adept too, mainly for the question of how would you like me to act as a Protector. It should go without saying that you can send me your responses privately, ingame, or here if you choose to respond. I'd personally like them here, so everyone can see them, but I'm equally fine with the other ways. I hope to be one of the greatest Protectors yet! Maybe you could keep the number of adepts needed for someone to be a protector the same, but once someone is a protector allow them to keep their status as long as they have 30 adepts or 5 worshipers.

Congrats, dst! If I had the spells, I would have done the same thing. I'm assuming that you can use heat jars to reheat stones? If so, I could have been very mean, but with just under a 900 fight imbalance I doubt I would have stood a chance anyways. I'd definitely like to see more of these types of quests. (I had to go to bed, so I slept through most of this one). Great quest, Burns!
