  1. Brilliant! My dear pet~ Doing this on her own volition, like a true artist, and so very talented. It accurately portrays in me in all my burning glory. My long, elegant nose; beautifully lank hair; shapely ears; wise, sadly contemplative eyes; high brow; arched neck and small, modest lips. I'm not sure quite what it is in and sticking out of my mouth, but no matter. I eat anything, you know, so as to not waste. I'm not some sort of spoiled, particular fool. Well! I beckon you to praise Lu as she deserves to be. Indeed, I must say, she's surprisingly better than all the other artists here, who didn't deign to draw me when they had the chance. Can you not sense my greatness exuding from the solemn representation..!..?..!!
  2. I agree. However, basically Manu is the only person who would have the power to fix things like this, and he's quite busy. The problem has been put on the official bug list (here) so that when Manu visits the forums he shall be directed to the topic and see the concerns. Hopefully then things will be made better, but it may be a long wait.
  3. Yes, I am part goat; do you not know the meaning of "satyr"? That is why I said I am a hag-satyr. A hag with the legs of a goat. But that most certainly does not mean I am a goat. That would be calling a griffin a lion, you know. To be certain, being a goat is not offensive. Goats are very cute in my opinion (and not at all mean, Ledah.) What is offensive is being called something you aren't. Why do girls get offended when called masculine, and boys offended when called feminine? Switch the roles and such characteristics are perfectly acceptable. Have no fear, however, my mercy is vast and my temperament mild. Frustration is useless. Should you call me a goat, I only record thy name in my omniscient brain so as to make another name than what is displayed. Ren is Rennedy, MB is Tzuki (or Rabbit? still trying to think of a better one), Paul is Paularu, with more attached "u"s to make it more aggravating. Brilliant, are they not? Of course, I am a most just person, and when they discontinue their stupidity, I stop my retribution as well. Note to self: I am reverting to previous way of typing.
  4. I'd like it. But I know a lot of features concerning adepts have yet to be implemented, and something similar to this may already be planned (I have no idea), so we may want to wait and see. Or maybe there could be some sort of feature with which we could message multiple people at once, not necessarily just our adepts.
  5. At the risk of posting unnecessarily (which I actually do a lot), I have to say that fish is really cute. <3 Not judging skill, of course, except that it's better than mine. But then, so is most people's. *cough*
  6. a) Pokemon! n_n; Personally, I think magicduel can quite well do without the breeding and capturing. More npcs is nice, but I also like the pvp system. Wouldn't you think that random npc fights would be less challenging? Even if some sort of AI system was implemented so the rituals are intelligent, they might become redundant after a while. b) What purpose would this go to? Creatures are like extended parts of yourself. They depend entirely on you, and they have no need for food or such things because you give them vital energy. c) I believe the capitals of each land are going to come into play with alliances somehow in the future, although I don't know. But consider that alliances are already defending their lands and other treasures; if one side loses, gameplay will be affected through the adventure log.
  7. Interesting idea.. I'm not sure it'd be good if the Legends forum got overrun with similar story topics (more like, I hope this doesn't become a major roleplaying place) but this much is agreeable enough for me. In fact, I'm sort of itching to write my own sort of story-thing because of all the roleplaying recently DX It's all your people's fault.. need to do homework... I don't know if this is what the forum was intended for, but no objections have been raised so it should be fine until someone says otherwise. Oh, and have you thought about putting this in your "Comments on Self" doc?
  8. I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to provoke discussion and get input about mysterious features of magicduel. Or at least, not if the discussion doesn't include major spoilers. It's not much different from The House of Liquid Dust or Seekers of Enlightenment topics, although there are a lot of questions here. I'm going to refrain from posting my thoughts about the questions as I'm supposed to be doing homework. n_n;
  9. Why does everyone think I'm a goat? D: I bet somehow people got the wrong idea when certain persons kept on calling me "Glai goat" because Wodin used the spell on me so many times.. I'm not a goat. For your information, a glaistig is a fae creature, hag-satyr, which hides its features under a green robe and pretends to be a pretty fairy so it can lure travelers and eat them. And it acts like a shepherd to livestock. According to wikipedia, anyway. I don't even know why I picked the name.. it's always such a pain when it comes to choosing playernames, so I just randomly looked up some keyword or the other and picked the first okayish-sounding thing that I saw. Wikipedia is pretty unreliable, too, so I'm not even certain that's what a glaistig really is. But it isn't a goat. </end rant on namesake>
  10. (1) Miracle potion! Or perhaps, capture two of one kind and put them in the daycare center. Oh wait, of opposite sex? I don't know of any female knators.. *cough* Sorry, that kind of stuff reminds me of Harvest Moon and Pokemon. Anyway, creatures are supposed to materialize aspects of the player, I think. Having offspring from your different characteristics sounds a bit funny. I dunno, maybe it could be made to work somehow. (2) Hmm.. I don't know where, but I think I heard that you will be able to achieve the "invisible" effect with magic, either spells or principles. If not, I don't see why it'd have to be the reward for solving a puzzle rather than magic, although perhaps solving a puzzle could give you some insight into a specific principle or spell. (3) I think more npcs will be implemented, but pvp is one of the main features of MD. You'll get used to the combat system and crafting def-rits/counter-rits by observing the dynamic actions of others. Why do you prefer fighting "monsters" to humans? It's not like you're killing your "brothers," you all fight each other to gain experience and better yourselves. (4) Maybe you should join Wodin's army in case of war I think the combat will mostly be between the alliances/armies, but maybe there will be shades. Or perhaps you'll unlock some npcs (including shades) if you take a certain route in the story, when that is finished. (5) I dunno.. it's not you who fights, or at least not your body. It's your creatures.. So for the steed thing to work, I'd assume it'd be like armor, and it'd give you initiative. n_n; But I believe there will be some creatures that are mounts/have mounts. (6) I like this one; it sounds like a variation of head contests except 1 on 1 and with betting.
  11. Hmm.. I know sometimes, the combat logs switches the roles and shows you the results in the enemy's perspective, or something. Did you look to see if you actually got the honor/lost it? Or that your creatures actually did defeat the enemy's?
  12. n_n; the game shouldn't go idle if you open a new tab/window and play magicduel while the log loads. Or, since it slows down a bit if you do that, you can just open a new tab/window every 14 minutes and click on one of the icons or links. Just clicking on the combat page won't do anything. The thing about healing--when creatures do actions which triggers rings to rotate around the creature icons, the log does slow. But for me, it doesn't stop completely. Maybe your connection is really slow? It might be good to disable idle when a combat log is opened, and to somehow eliminate the slowing when spell-like actions occur. Anyway, it should work if you tried it.. maybe you just didn't read/understand his post? Or did you try it?
  13. If you try Sacosphilz's tactic, you should stop from going idle. I dunno what he said about the summary page; I've never tried that. Instead, what I do is let the battle finish and then copy and paste directly from that page into a word document. The part with the fight details usually appears as a column/row with the overflow hidden, so just select all (CTL+A) within it and paste outside.. Okay, if his way works, you'll probably want to try that. >_>; In any case, you say you haven't gotten a battle report but have you tried it?
  14. ... Fanart of the likes of MB n_n; what has the world gone to? Now, if he were truly awesome, he would be like Metal Mario in Super Smash Brothers, except as a lop-eared bunny. Hind-leg kick! Kirby-style spin-drill! Forepaw hit! Bunny pounce! Bunny-hop-onto-ledge-above! Jiggy puff-style charm (no music, just the gooey eyes)! Long-range pebble attack! You know, pebbles as in- Reverse direction from target.. Anyway, Yami, I dunno what Manu would say to that. It was in the Gazebo of Equilibrium last time I checked. @Ledah: I'm not a goat. You know, if rpcs can abuse their editing powers ingame, I'm tempted to change your post. >_> You can be sure any chance of me drawing you, which would undoubtedly be a great honor considering who I am and what you are, has been greatly diminished.
  15. Hmm, well, I said I would do some fanart, and came up with a simply fantastic idea--a scribble version of Manu-tree. I plan to create more versions later, which I will post. You will see how the tree grows. At the moment it looks rather lonely, but hopefully it will grow as pretty as Bob when it blossoms. Maybe they're cousins of some sort? A tree for me for a fairy I be who larks about and merrily shouts at louts- those who pose and turn the nose at the majesty of the tree.
  16. My status bar says: http://magicduel.com/ifrm/ifrm.advertlinks.php# I dunno how php and all of that jazz works. >_>; I have very little idea as to what is causing your problem, but it works for the majority of us.. did you ever say what browser you are using? Maybe try disabling any add-ons, proxies, ect? That's the only idea I have.
  17. If the balancing concept is going to work, it's not going to be with the current system. Right now, there is no reason to keep a balance, really. While the skill multiplier looks good, it pales in comparison to the honor loss one would receive because everyone else has a worse balance. It could work if a considerable amount of others managed to keep a balance, but that's not likely without some sort of encouragement. And by encouragement, I mean something the game system could offer, not words of those who want to keep a balance.

    Welcome to MD~ Make sure to ask if you have any questions.
  19. Manu never went into how much, specifically, the exp bonus for fighting with a balanced counter is. He later announced that the bonus for skill gain was halved. Originally, there was no exp bonus for being balanced. The main incentive was so that you would be able to attack others without fearing great loss of honor. While honor may not indicate strength (and when you refer to "honor," I assume you mean the amount of honor one player gets attacking another), I believe Manu thought originally that the players who would give the most honor penalty to others were those who are weak and cannot defend themselves or get many wins: those who theoretically would get the most losses. However, instead, players farmed losses to get more honor.
  20. Glaistig replied to Tempestrian's topic in Resolved Bugs
    mm; it's a topic that's brought up rather frequently when new players encounter the number of mistakes. Going off-topic, are you new to MD? I see you joined the forums today, and I don't recognize your playername.
  21. Well, hopefully then he'd have the book and could manage some wonderful magic with his newfound understanding.. /:
  22. Glaistig replied to Tempestrian's topic in Resolved Bugs
    Here and here and here. /: But in my opinion, maybe the spell-checking should be done right now.. I posted somewhere that it really discourages certain players, and it'll be done eventually anyway.
  23. Yess, join, and you shall earn the special attention of Glaistig. No, of course I don't mean to say special disdain, that would be quite harsh.
  24. The two of you have a point here. However, though the problem is started by the win/loss system, it wouldn't exist if the honor system was changed somehow. The reason why other players want to get as many losses as those who have gotten a bad ratio is because of the honor system. The honor system give incentive for players to have a worse ratio than other players. Say that the win/loss system was changed back to simple who-did-more-damage, like it still is for mp3s, while the honor system remained. If that happened, the same thing that occurred in the past would reoccur: players would farm losses to gain huge amounts of honor (and exp bonus) from other players, and accordingly, the average balance ratio would keep on worsening. @Gchick, the reason why those who give you positive honor don't do enough damage to you is that they are probably new to the mindpower and have a better win:loss ratio than you and other players. Originally, people who gave you positive honor were supposed to be stronger than you, as they had a greater win:loss ratio than you. It just goes to show how the system hasn't worked out so well as hoped. x_x;
  25. The honor system was implemented in the first place to prevent people from targeting weaker players with a lot of losses, but as we know, it does far from that. My first thought was that your suggestion wouldn't stand in for the original purpose, because as long as a player stays balanced, he can still choose to target weak players, who would become imbalanced and have a hard time getting back to a balanced ratio. However, as things are now, those weak players are usually more balanced than the advanced players. I like the idea because it would force players to stay balanced if they want honor.. maybe there can be some sort of dual-system, one to encourage players to stay balanced (the exp bonus was supposed to do that, but it doesn't offer enough incentive), and another to encourage players to target those of similar exp level or something of that sort.
