  1. i still have nothing on this untill now. if none of you comes up with a good thing, there wont be any bunnies in game I will however start a contest for an other creature to take its place, if that fails to, then i wont do anymore public contests for premium creatures and i will turn back to paied artists to do the job. Just that you know. p.s. i realy wish to see a cute little bunny creature, without an axe or a dead man head on it.
  2. just that you know, good news: the pillars WORK, they are currently setup to open portals to several destinations, including secret destinations , or realy secret destinations lol bad news: there are no clues on how to use them, clues are in work and they will be truly awsome to research and discover once they are ready. bad news no2: once clues are ready the activation codes for all the destinations will change, and casting will also involve a ap or xpl cost to prevent automated attempts. So finding out the combinations right nwo its pure luck, and useless on the long run, but it can still be fun.

I was thinking not to reply to this topic, i feel a bit blushing and i dont think i deserve all this, especialy when the game is all about the community in it and NOT ABOUT ME. When you thank me you should actualy thank to every single player contributing to the community with their thoughts and their involvement...or to the guys that helped me along the way and wich drawings and texts and ideas you still find allover the game. I wont say all individual names here because they are to many, but just a couple stand out because they are responsable for the most of the work even if they are no longer part of the project for a very long time , Valy and Adi. The amazing fact is that currently the game grows at a much faster rate because of the community involvement, even without permanent drawer or storyline job, and that only means that YOU, ALL OF YOU, are building this game together with me. I am not alone in this! I am just mirroring a part of my thoughts in this fantasy world, trying to do something much more than a game. This project for me means more than you think, its not a business, its not a side hobby, its something that for me represents a focus of what i allways wanted to do. I was (and am) a good webdeveloper, why not to admit it probably one of the best outthere since i am capable of doing anything webrelated that you currently see on internet, i am also an artist in my own way, and more, so from my point of view this project combines the things i like and the things i do best but most of all it gives me a way to make my own group of ultra high quality friends, friends that i was never able to get in real life so much because of my ridiculous standards. I am pretty capable of supplying pure addiction into a game, and sometimes i use that "ability" in some of the features in this game, but the last thing i want to do is to create something purely focused on game addiction, like WOW or other games that are like scientific researches on how to make a game addictive without caring about the community or the role playing. I say that because some of you "worship" me for the "game" and my purpose its not to create just a "game". The "game", as in fighting and discovering things in game, its just the way to keep people together untill they realise the true fun behind the scenes so to speak. I am far from that goal, but much closer than i was one year ago when it all went online. Well enough said. I still think i should not be such a celebrity, or my ears will turn all red and i will go hide under the bed or something lol. But i do admit that i read this topic as a stress releaver and it feels damn good to see all the nice things you said here, and even if i dont think i should receive all that 'applause' , its simply awsome. OMG ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) well i dont want a statue for myself..its a bit strange to build a game so i can put my statue in it...i dont even have many pictures of myself hahahaha ..but a hall of fame with all celebrities this game is not such a bad ideea, i feel like a lot of players will become legends but in time they will slowly disapear, so a place in their memmory sounds good.
  6. again, you see them as new features, i see them as missing parts of a bigger system. you see bugfixes are needed, i see that "new features" will change game mechanics so much that those bugs will be there as you see them. you see wrong attitude in my replies, you are probably right, i see wrong attitude in yours too. you see wrong attitude in community, i see it too, but i wont change it by force. Either the new wave of rpc's will help the community grow or just scare people away, i dont realy know. you miss a big point. in this game some players play against other players. RPC/PWR play against/with regular players. Its not a liner gameplay, they are like two factions ...game masters and normal players. Rpc give quests, regular players play them, some enjoy it, some feel its elitist attidude and get frustrated and leave, some see it as a target and fight to get rpc's thenselves. i dont expect people to understand the type of community i try to build here. The fact that glaistig and lulu, or any of you bothered to write on the forum, means they care about it and thats one reached goal from my point of view. its a cosntantly changing game. i dont want it a perfect game, i want it an evolving game. Perfect games you play then discard. I put effort into this and dedicate my time and why not to say, my life, to develop this project, you can jump in and watch its evolution or stay aside and wait for it to be complete. The fun in a game its playing it not winning it, that goes here too, the fun its watching it grow, not having a perfectly stable game that you can learn how to cheat. I had a pretty tense discussion with someone i have in game for a long time and you all know, and that made me think...i think giving out things on a plate makes people disregard what they get and actualy want more but treasure it less. I am kind of upset a bit. I was missing a very important point when giving extra responsabilities to some of the players, and that is the fact that each one of you has a limited play time..some have 2 days some have 200 some maybe will play more than a year....but eventualy each one of you will quit, nothing lasts forever...so to be a bit rude ... i see your loyalty as players counted in days, activity days. This discussion with glai i had with charismatica , with wodin, with others, each one quits at some point because of different reason, even if the reason will be no more as the game evolves, even if they realise that. Its the way life goes on...maybe one day i will find a way to overcome that too, who knows. One question, what game did you played more than magicduel, and why ...? can you answer that> that will help me understand a lot of things.

  8. First of all, i hope i dont have to remind all the things that i have to do and how some of those things you dont even realise such as SEO, advertising, answering ridiculous emails and so on. The programming of the game is entirly in my hands and i do have a better view of things to come than you do and from that view, the current so called BUGS are nothing. Why i say that? because in time a lot of things change and fixing and perfecting the current ones its poitless at this moment. I am not introducing new stuff, i am just finishing the stuff i had in mind, and its still a long way untill all things will be in palce so i cna focus on perfecting them and making them bugfree. The fighting system will have its changes too, one of the major changes you saw from mp3 to mp4-5 when there are more types of victory. The rewarding system of the fight and the log will also change, to show how fights are "healing fights", "heat fights", "sacrificy fights" ETC ETC.. The illusions system that i work on is for MP2 and MP7, teo levels mandatory for the game evolution. From my point of view , the biggest issue right now is the flow of roles and the monopoly that rpc's have on special abilities. I am thinking of a way to make this more fluent and have inactive rpc's removed from active play and new rpc's promoted constantly. For this i have to do a lot of work that you cant even think of right now. Untill then, the Festival is doing that by promoting players based on their activity. You are complaining that i am not answering forums ... i cant do all, sorry, ..honestly i wish to play my role too, and be part of the community but that i will do when i will focus just on bugs how you say...probably in over 6 month from now, maybe more idk. In the time i spent to write this post i could have fixed one of the bugs you are talking about, or reward one more player for the festival. Thats why i selected people to be part of the team and assigned them to different activity areas such as artists, forum, translations, adventure, live help operators and one manager to centralise the data and coordinate them. I must say i am not happy with the way things work with them. I cant figure out if more people are needed or none at all. Normaly you should not see me at all, not on email, not in game and not on forums. Have you ever tried to contact one of the many developers of an other game? I tried, and the best i could do was to get in touch with one of their managers, but never to the programmer and of course not to the guy that run the show there, the owner...and i contacted them for business not to report bugs or complain. MagicDuel is defenetly understaffed, i could use like 4 programmers, 1 designer, a fulltime manager, and so on, THEN things could be like you wish them, untill then i am trying to do miracles and it seems you dont appreciate it. My recomandation is to quit playing, and come back in one year or so. If you dont realise that the game world is curently evolving and in constant change and its not at all a stable game, then you are defenetly not ready to see what will happen in next month. You have two ways to see chaos ... like adventure where you have nothing to lose.. or like total desaster. Please read the change log from entry 1, you will realise how this whole rush of mine looks on the long run and why its not the right moment to focus on bugs. At first there was no chat, can you imagine that? Do you know how other games cover their logic problems? they periodicaly reset the game. When was the last time i reset the game? The only valuable thing this game has its the community. If tomorow i will place just a chat and no fighting, people will still be there talking about what happend and so. If you look at things that way, then the small bugs you enounter now are not so important, and the changes that happen from time to time become part of the overall adventure that the game has to offer. The community should not be hold together by ME...i can do that, but if you all cant stay together on your own then my work so far is pointless.

  12. I am proud to announce that the first MagicDuel Festival beginns today! The Festival are the rewarding festivities for all your efforts on the RPC/PWR contest and much more. As you know from the contest description, 3 players will be rewarded for their efforts with a nice prize ....well, i lied! ).... During the festivities, a lot more players will be rewarded based on their progress so far. For a few days from now on each day there will be players rewarded, characters created, gift abilities dispatched and the MD world will go WILD!   13. Hi, I would like to post a public challange for a limited edition or just premium creature (not decided yet) and reward the one that will do the best. Anyone can participate in this, regardless of active days, alliance status or other factors. What i need. - Bunny creature, fluffy cute bunny creature to be colored afterwards in soft pastel colors. - 4-7 levels, should evolve to be more mature and pwoerfull creature but at the same time keep its cuteness. I dont want a killer rabbit!! make it cute fluffy and fun. Also levels must be well corelated and look as if its the next level and not a tottaly different creature. - sugestion for name and/or description is a good advantage. - do not make artworks (creature levels) public or the creature wont be selected! I need them totaly secret from the public. Deadline 1 week starting now (ends 12 Sept 2008). I will only reward one person that will do the best one, so i tell you from now sorry for those that will do hard work and not be selected, thats the risk you take.   14. principles should be things that govern wide areas not specific ones. I read above, Chaos, Order, they seem right at the first view, but i am not sure if they dont collide with syntropy and entropy in a way. Also maybe to have a single principle combining the two, but i cant think of a name right now. think that you dont invent principles, they ARE, so you try to better understand and it will all take shape in your mind. Its like an artist sees the artwork before its on paper and it just fills in the empty spots.
  15. think that i want to put land leader over md lands .... i dont want to have them by playername, because the transfer of features is almost impossible, instead i want them by a predefiend character. Its also better that the leader of the land will have a predefined avatar, name, tag, and stats, than just an other player to be in that position. I was planning to allow normal evolution of players towards that position, but after wodin incident, i am defenetly thinking of creating those accounts and then assigning them as public characters. Instead of creating md legend and have lets say player Abcde as king of MB for example, i will have a fixed char as king and allow others to controll it. It will be a hit to the level of adventure in the game, but it will make the game world much more stable over time. I see this as a thing i must do, please correct me if i am wrong.
  16. if i keep wodins identity as a legend, and put him out of the game then all work on that profile is lost, because wodin without that avatar is not wodin and that avatar is part of the game now. as you said , wodin was created for bigc so its actualy part of the game, but bigc gave it life and personality. Bigc account will remain legend forever, in fact i will see to it that it wont get erased when account cleanup will take place later, same for all rpc or 'legends' I think i am about to create a rule about this... all characters that become integrated in the interface, will be public characters if they desert their account. As an alternative for that, i can create a statue for that player and that statue wont represent a public account, but if you want to achieve something like wodin then you should take the responsability also. Players come and go, but me and the game remain for other players to come. I can not mutilate the game world with characters that appear like there but will never be actualy there, with incomplete quests and confused history. I will try not to promote any player to a character that will require to become public in such a case, instead i will build those characters and give access to them based on a RULE so that others have a chance to achieve that position. Its like in a company... there is a marketing manager position, and that is controlled by a person with its own identity and with its own achievements, but if that person dies or leaves, the company still goes on and that position and achievements are passed on to the next to occupy that position. I will always grant credit to those that are behind such a thing, for example with wodin i put on the page that gives controll to that account detailed info about him and made it clear HE developed that character and that whoever takes over it will just continue its legacy. I think we can keep wodin as a feature, because the having access to a legendary character if you manage to rule GG alliance is something i consider very cool. Remember Actraiser? he has a spell that is called "Summon Actraiser" and that gives the caster Actraiser's army , even if he stopped playing so long ago. Thats also sort of a summoning. There are two ways to create a society from scratch... assign roles to people and have all under controll or let the society and roles occur in an natural way. I think in MD world we have to mix those two together, some things require to be a predefined role and some things need to evolve by themselves..like the Dojo initiative. I consider this the second big "sacrifice" in md, after the use of alliance logos for different members than their initial creators. Things have to move on, game will constantly improve, even if that will hurt some of you a lot. the wodin incident will remail as a lesson for me not to allow players to get so deep in the game without first thinking of the consequences. Afterall we are all human, and playing any game is just a temporary state. Some will play a day some will play a year some maybe more, but eventualy all will quit, so the game society has to be fluid and i am strugling to achieve that.
  17. i am still waiting for an answer from wodin.... remember wodin reset all his things, killed his creatures etc. so.. he obviously didnt wanted someone to use those. Wodin history is strongly contected to his role because of the AL.. i cant just split it and give part of it to a new character.
  18. again, the situation is simple: 1) what to do with wodin, forget his account forever and hope he will return some day when no one will know who he is, OR have him as a public character where the golemus alliance leader can controll it and its powers 2) what to do in general with the other rpc's that quit the game. i think thse are two separate matters. for 1 i think we have to talk to wodin itself, i will respect his dicision ! My current solution is implemented as it is and has wodin as a public role to be given to alliance leader of GG. For nr.2 i think they should remain legends and not taken over by others, unless a few special situation that are: kantor, shade sentinel, morpheus ... thats ALL i can think of now. bootes, ren, all others, have roles that can become legends if they quit and there is no need for others to take over their accounts. In case of ren that is handeling the archivists, his role is needed, but not his personality, so an other player can do same "job" but rens _IDENTITY_ should be untouched. With all of the above characters things are clear. Knaty was a public character afterall, and i had more players play that role without any problems. shade sentinel i will make public (or not) depending if i manage to play its role as i want it to be myself so i put it on the right track. Morpheus, i talked to him and he agrees that great responsability comes with sacrifice, if he quits, morpheus becomes a public character, but with a very dificult requirement to be summoned. So..the only real problem is Wodin. Should things stay as they are or should i do something else.

  20. wodin situation is a mistake because of my fault. i should have never gave him such power and integration in the game. I am now facing a perpetual problem what happens to characters that move up the line up to a NPC? And my sugestion was that those characters become a controllable NPC , and the controlling player will have the responsability to play that role. I am not talking about other rpc's or pwr's, so talking about bootes or ren doesnt fit this issue. I am talking about rpc's that are almost npc's and have integration in game interface or posess custom abilities that are more than just spells. Keeping them as only legends and allowing them to come back anytime in the future is an option that will create interesting situation but most likely will come to a situation where these characters will never return and it will be a big confusion. Also it will slow down the game A LOT.
  21. i am realy curious to see if someone beats me in active days untill a year has passed there is one player that is dagerously close (STF) I think Alpha 7 will have many surprises and good changes too, and for the fun of it, please read first few changelog entries, its soooo funny when i say i created the chat ....can you imagine the game without the chat?? LOL And that was alpha 3, because at 1 and 2 there was no changelog ) to bad i dont have records from aplha 1 to seee how things started. If anyone wants to see i will post some original sketches and plans of the game from 4 years ago, to see from what it started and to what it got, i am amazed. I remember when i was so happy for having 200 players..accounts i mean, and now theyre are 80k + , i dont eaven count them anymore

The necrovion gate has 3 ways of opening, one is for adventurers, one is for gods, and one is for everyone once its open, and can be opened by a great necrovion leader throu a spell learned from the shade sentinel itself, after the sentinel aquired inner magic documents by burning principle pages from the principle book, the last ones he had i just told you a lot of clues lol
  23. oh and btw, wodins name was setup for the game, invented by bigc for the game, not an old allready used identity, but yes ren has a good point. that makes me more convinced that i should not promote players more than a certain level and after that level all accounts should be predefiend and act as role positions. Imagine the shade sentinel, if it wasnt a predefined role, what happend when that specific player quits reagrdless of reason....all necro forces have no reason or support for their actions? Like i said, some roles are way to important to the game, and its my fault i know. How many of you seen morpheus in action? I worked a lot on the dreams section for it to be forgotton on some account. Or how many know that wodin actualy has the ability to run a private head contest any time but he never did so..think of the role playing posibilities. Or the custom spells some characters get, just becose their role fits for them.
  24. you are all right. a character identity is what defines it, and without the same person behind it it will never be the same. Problem with wodin is that he is a character integrated in the game interface, unlike ren or anyother , except knaty. A good excuse to this change is that wodin is a summoned character. he was created as a new character , to pass controll for a new identity of BigC. As the story sais , wodin was summoned. Some of the rpc's have abilities that are crucial to the game. If they quit that position a lot of work is lost, both theirs and mine, and the game becomes chaos. Look at knaty missing in action, all his quests lost, all his relations confused. Of course i will try to create characters specialy for this, but some players that reach to deep in the game and get to be integrated in the game as scene characters, or have crucial abilities (like morpheus that can create dreams, a different game interface with many possible uses), should be played by active people. One way to do this is to build an alliance for a specific role, then have that alliance do the actions, but if the main rpc realy quits, like wodin, then things are different. I dont need ren character for example taken over by someone else. If ever he will leave he game and an other person will take over his attributions, then he can remain as legend in game, there is no need to have rens account as a public account. But if his avatar was integrated in the interface, such as wodin, it is a different thing. Anyway, i emailed wodin about this and i am waiting for his relply. One other thing that made me do this is that wodin completely reset his chars. If he will say he doesnt want his char public and we wont reach an agreement, then i will find an alternative way, probably renaming the character and leaving wodin as a regular account so that he keeps his identity but at the same time the interface modifications get used by someone else. In the page that gives controll over wodins account, its a full description of the situation and that "wodin" its a role to play, based on the progress on a real player that entered MD hostory by hard work. its all there, even his email I dont want to steal identities, but i strongly think there are a lot of motivated players that could play certain roles much better than their current owners. I will never kick a rpc out if he still wants his role, but if he quits without saying anything, what should i do? Right now wodin is a "feature", whoever rules Guerilla Golemicarum, gets access to wodin account (different email and pass dont worry) and can play WODINS ROLE to continue the legacy. Abusing the account of missusing it will get the player penalised or banned. please continue sharing ideeas, its helpfull for me to see what other ideeas you have on how to handle this delicate situation.

Someone please email him this topic, maybe he will care to let us know the reasons of his departure.....mmmm maybe not the reasons, bu anyway he should see this thread, its ...touching ..lol I wonder whe he remembers me of one of the characters before him (not rpc because there were no rpc's back then) and thats Actraiser ... something make me think about him when i think at wodin, i have no clue why. Aslo i have to say that i might be an important reason why he left, because his game story ended up in a way he might not have predicted or desired, but with great people great stories are told regardless of their outcome. emailed him - chewett
