1. Edited, following received feedback. More feedback welcome, my only request is that you criticise constructively so that I know what and how to correct. Sunfire, DD, Intrigue please contact me, as you've already started this miniquest before I edited it and you may wish to choose a different path. Until the systematic method to enter Night Mode is revealed, I will be letting players glimpse the Night manually, for one hour at a time. As I want to give as many as possible a fair chance, I will offer multiple ways for this "favour" to be earned. ALL those that wish to enter night mode must first ask so, and by asking I mean answering the following questions: Why do you want to see the Night? What do you know about the Night? What does the Night mean to you? Note that I prefer these responses to be given in-game via the chat. I accept PMs or Forum messages. Also note that creative responses are vastly appreciated. Send me a drawing, write a story, a poem, be unusual. I will not turn away systematic responses, but sending something that piques my interest may put you at an advantage. This is not meant to be eliminatory, however answers like "I want to see the night because reasons", obvious trolling or a general lack of interest and wanting to see it just because it's "cool" will not entitle you to proceed to the next task. Choose a path. 1. Contact me about being given a task - this method will provide you with a methodical, mechanical task. As stated in the post before editing, this involves observing the letters in a location for a given number of days. I will provide the location name, format in which the answer must be provided and duration of monitoring. 2. Contact me about RP / symbolism. This involves a personal chat in-game (no other means), following which I may decide if I will show you the Night based on this or not. You are still eligible to attempt the systematic path if I am not pleased with your RPing or general ideology/way of thinking. 3. Contact me about Aeo's story. This may be either easy or difficult - if you gain insight into Aeo's story, either by following my sermons and events, attending them or reading the logs, by talking to people that are close to me, etc, and believe you can hold an entertaining and accurate conversation about it, do let me know. 4. Contact me about knowledge into Night Mode. If you have a particularly deep knowledge of Night Mode, especially lore (I would prefer "extra" knowledge, not what is generally available in the announcements) then again, let me know. Note that completing this entitles you to 1 hour of Night Mode. If I am particularly impressed with your performance, I may be talked into granting a limited number of bonus entries. TL;DR. Be creative, think outside the box and come talk to me.
2. I think it's the clouds. Plus the fact that there can only be one weather spell active at a time? Correct me if I'm wrong.
3. I'm personally unsure. I obviously like the idea of having Night Mode "accessory" spells and items. 1. Sunny Weather is the only counter to NM that I can think of off the top of my head at this hour in the morning. So perhaps there's no counter-counter needed? 2. At the same time, Sunny Weather illuminates characters that are in Night Mode even if they are in places with "No Visibility" tag, which I find a bit confusing. If we can get a fix for 2. then I don't think it's fair to have a spell to cloak people in NM in open places, as much as I like it. If we can't get a fix for 2. then sure, I'd like that spell.
4. I have decided to start a new series of events similar to those that took place in December/January. There will be a series of six storytelling events, mainly focused on explaining what defines Aeo as the character he is today, but also on how others relate to each specific pain and how each said pain may or may not impact MD as a whole. The First: Date&Time: Saturday, 21st of February, 21:30 ST Location: Paper Cabin Balcony Topic: A more detailed story on Aeoshattr's first great pain. This is meant to be more of a storytelling event; I am not expecting the actual storytelling to take more than 30 minutes. Questions and discussion are welcome afterwards. LOGS (cleaned):
[21/02/15 21:28] Aeoshattr:Though as an introduction... I was meaning to tell those that gathered the story of my first Shard. I've been asked what they're for a number of times. [21/02/15 21:29] :Lania smiles to Lash [21/02/15 21:30] Aeoshattr:Hmm... Shall we? [21/02/15 21:31] :Dark Demon nods [21/02/15 21:31] Lania:5 more minutes? :P [21/02/15 21:32] I am Bored:It's just past 21:32 so... [21/02/15 21:32] Aeoshattr:Alright, we should get started then, I don't want to encroach on the discussion later [21/02/15 21:32] :Asthir reduces the frequency of its humming [21/02/15 21:32] Lania:Ah yes. Let us...you begin then. :) [21/02/15 21:33] :Aeoshattr grins [21/02/15 21:35] :lashtal sits on the roof and prepares to listen [21/02/15 21:35] :Chewett gets out his hearing trumpet [21/02/15 21:35] :Guardian of Root 24230 bows to the wookie saviour [21/02/15 21:36] Azkhael:Hmm. [21/02/15 21:36] Aeoshattr:Well.. I shall then. Long, long ago, as Nephilim usually live long lives. Back when I was still an unruly youngster. [21/02/15 21:37] :Lania gets comfortable, her back against the wall and listens [21/02/15 21:37] :Change listens as she doodles [21/02/15 21:37] :Lintara 's eyes widen, she slowly looks about [21/02/15 21:37] Aeoshattr:Back when in our world, the gates of the skies were still open to mortals. The court of the Highfather was open to all. [21/02/15 21:38] Aeoshattr: *chuckles* Not closed and locked away, kept only for the dead as now. [21/02/15 21:38] :Dark Demon nods as the darkness engulfs him [21/02/15 21:38] Aeoshattr:And unruly as I was, never wanting to obey the strict ways of the Nephilim Conclave... [21/02/15 21:39] Aeoshattr:I believed foolishly I could find a way to live by joining a... Hm. Gang of unruly youngsters like me. [21/02/15 21:40] Aeoshattr:But to be accepted, I had to, naturally, undergo some form of initiation. [21/02/15 21:40] Aeoshattr:A fool as I was, I trusted them. I was challenged to steal an object from the Highfather's court. [21/02/15 21:40] Aeoshattr:The object's choice was left upon myself. [21/02/15 21:40] :Lania gasps [21/02/15 21:41] :Assira the Black smiles slightly [21/02/15 21:41] Aeoshattr:And a fool I was. I made my way to the court; one could say it's difficult to steal from such a place, as there are few to no... physical things there. [21/02/15 21:42] Aeoshattr:But as I walked the long, winding halls... [21/02/15 21:42] Aeoshattr:I came across this strange box. [21/02/15 21:42] Aeoshattr:It was put on a pedestal, with two winged statues towering on each side. [21/02/15 21:42] Asthir:Is it just me, or... are people slowly disappearing, with every phrase Aeo speaks...? [21/02/15 21:43] :Aeoshattr grins slightly [21/02/15 21:43] Aeoshattr:And I knew I had it. [21/02/15 21:43] Princ Rhaegar:I'm blind! *touches around for white arrows, just in case he has to make a run for it* [21/02/15 21:44] Aeoshattr:There was nobody watching - after all, whom isthere to keep watch in a place like the court of the Highfather. What sort of fool would ever dare cause trouble in there? [21/02/15 21:44] :Chewett looks at the crazy people [21/02/15 21:44] Aeoshattr:I opened the box, and inside I found this rather old, I dare say ugly knife. [21/02/15 21:45] :Guardian of Root 24230 raises an eyebrow [21/02/15 21:45] :Chewett goes to write an email [21/02/15 21:46] :Asthir hovers away from Aeo, slightly [21/02/15 21:46] Aeoshattr:But as soon as I took it out of the box... [21/02/15 21:46] Aeoshattr: *unsheathes the knife from his cloak* My arm flailed with pain, and the cursed thing began to pour a sort of golden, orange light. [21/02/15 21:47] :Dark Demon nods as he listesn [21/02/15 21:47] :Lania looks at the knife and raises a brow [21/02/15 21:47] Aeoshattr:By that moment, I didn't care anymore about bringing it out of the court. I wanted to let it go, to drop it down, but it wouldn't fall out of my hand. [21/02/15 21:48] Lania:Curse of the holder... *whispers to herself* [21/02/15 21:48] Aeoshattr:And before I knew it, I was out cold on the floor. [21/02/15 21:49] Aeoshattr:I still do not know how long it took for me to awaken. But when I did, I was home. [21/02/15 21:50] Aeoshattr: *tucks the knife back away* I could hear my father outside; I sat up, and the room spun. [21/02/15 21:51] :Asthir moves back into the position it previously occupied [21/02/15 21:52] :Lania tries to aim a pebble at Asthir, while listening to the story [21/02/15 21:53] :Aeoshattr tilts his head to the side, revealing another one of his silvery scars, but drags his fingers across it and seems to pull out one of the shards from it [21/02/15 21:53] :Lania looks at Aeo and shakes her head [21/02/15 21:53] :Lintara watches. [21/02/15 21:55] :Lania feels around for Lintara, gently grabs what seems like Lin's arm and tries to pull her close, hoping that it is the desired person [21/02/15 21:55] Aeoshattr:When I awoke, I had this... shard stuck in my neck [21/02/15 21:55] Lania:Shard stuck in the neck...sfff.. [21/02/15 21:56] Aeoshattr:And since I forever lived with the feeling the knife first gave me. Rending across my right arm. [21/02/15 21:56] *Nimrodel*:Umm someone seems to be pulling my arm >> [21/02/15 21:57] Aeoshattr:This... knife is to blame. I would later learn what the shard was... for I could not stay away from it. If it wasn't in someone's hands, and far away from me, I would fall into a deep sleep [21/02/15 21:57] Lania: *retreats her arm and whispers towards where Nim's voice came* Sorry.... [21/02/15 21:57] Aeoshattr: *grins* I will tell those that are interested about the next shard in a few days... and perhaps more about the knife. [21/02/15 21:57] *Nimrodel*: *whispers back* its ok.. Just let me know before you do that. It took me everything not to scream and shout >> [21/02/15 21:58] Aeoshattr: *chuckles* I believe Chewett wanted to have a different conversation. That's if.. we can all make it down the ladder without breaking our necks [21/02/15 21:58] :Dark Demon nods slowly to Aeo [21/02/15 21:58] Lania: *to Nim* Alrighty. *turns towards Aeo* What do you mean/. Its over? [21/02/15 21:58] Aeoshattr:For now. [21/02/15 21:59] :MaGoHi pats his hime on the back to calm her down [21/02/15 21:59] Gljivoje:can you show my humble self night mode also, Aeoshattr? [21/02/15 21:59] Princ Rhaegar:We can see those who aren't in nightmode. Thought it probably has something to do with sky visibility, if it's not a bug [21/02/15 21:59] Lania:Aww...ok. Looking forward for more. [21/02/15 21:59] I am Bored:And now, we hand it over to Chewett for the story mode discussion. [21/02/15 21:59] Dark Demon:That is the point, Rhaegar. [21/02/15 22:00] Dark Demon:Nightmode envelopes you in darkness, not others. [21/02/15 22:00] :I am Bored makes an arm movement pointing towards the wookie sitting on the canopy [21/02/15 22:00] Chewett:8PM exactly [21/02/15 22:00] Chewett:Thats exciting [21/02/15 22:00] *Nimrodel*: *whispers* lania was that you patting on my back? [21/02/15 22:01] Azkhael:Thank you, Aeoshattr, though we are far too disruptive a crowd, I feel. [21/02/15 22:01] Lania: *whispers back* Not me this time. [21/02/15 22:01] Aeoshattr: *chuckles* Well.. shall we go to the Gazebo for the talk then? [21/02/15 22:02] Aeoshattr: (look at the trigger box... it's so pretty) [21/02/15 22:02] Chewett:To the Gazebo! [21/02/15 22:02] *Nimrodel*: *trembles* Aeo chan.. This is scary. >> [21/02/15 22:02] Gljivoje:yes, next time story first, to set the mood right, than questions [21/02/15 22:02] :Keep lightly pokes Nimrodel and Lania in the dark [21/02/15 22:02] *Nimrodel*:Someone patted my back and it wasnt lania T_T [21/02/15 22:02] :Lania gets up and trips over the edge, falling next to the cabin [21/02/15 22:02] *Nimrodel*: *bawls* Now someone's poking me too!!! Lania!!!? [21/02/15 22:02] Lintara:Lani?! [21/02/15 22:02] Azkhael:Alas poor Lania. [21/02/15 22:03] :Lintara jumps over the edge and flutters down
TL;DR (summary - which here may make more sense than the actual logs. Sorry for the awful event.)
The First was rebellious, unruly, but also naive in the sense of not knowing what is best for him. His foolishness was what actually created Aeoshattr - his name, before this event was different, and has not yet been revealed in MD. The First is the one that is closest to the man before the "shattering" (I.E. the name I haven't revealed). He is punished by death, event which plunges him into the realm of MD and subsequently creates The Second.
5. Though I feel that in general, Chew has the same kind of idea about this thing as me (hopefully I understood his post correctly), may I please see where these "being a nice guy"/ "encroachment" rules are? Because last time I checked, people are still being butts (usually about trivial issues) and I don't see them spanked with said rules. Phantasm spent a WP to change the location's name. It's perfectly conforming with the rules stated in that specific wish: Change location subtitle Allows you to change a subtitle on a given location. The new title will remain forever untill someone else changes it and for at least 4 days. With this you can mark locations to support your role, such as pubs, markets, themed gathering places, mark historic locations to remember an important event for all future players, organise group activities, support role play situations, etc. You are not allow to write playernames in this subtitle. Abusing this by writing ofences, advertising or similar will be penalised. The wish specifically states that someone else may change the location's subtitle. Phantasm did not write a player's name in the subtitle. Phantasm didn't write anything inherently offensive or directly advertising. Where's the problem? P.S. I may sound a bit aggressive, and I do apologize IAB. I agree with your idea that it's common courtesy to ask before slapping a subtitle on top of someone else's, BUT I'm rather intrigued by these "nice guy" rules that I have not yet heard of or seen in action. P.P.S. I'd like to review the grammar, spelling and punctuation of items in the wish shop, as I've noticed a few mistakes and I have a feeling they'll be there for a while. If interested/have time for this, please poke me, Chew.
6. Noooooo! Leave! Leave before they find you!
7. I can help :)
8. I would give every drawing an upvote if I could. Wow!
9. Why's MD so quiet lately? Sad times :(

As a rule of thumb, it's a bad idea to ask me to "liven things up".
Unless you want a flame war or drama ^^

10. Why can't I upvote this multiple times.
11. Technically, I think you can, but you either need to know a bit of HTML or resort to another website to use a "what-you-see-is-what-you-get" editor, which is a bit of a hassle, to be honest. In other words... It is possible to edit your papers with the current, broken interface, but it requires too much effort for something that should be done by the interface without resorting to a third party. I'm willing to help compile a list of errors / bugs, if it's deemed that this will help the error fixing process.
12. My feelings about this are conflicting. On the one hand, I think that lore-wise, it makes sense for spells to be castable on offline players. But on the other hand, I personally find it a bit irritating to log in and be under the effect of a spell because someone wanted to have some fun while you couldn't react. I onno. It bothers me but not enough to make a whole case on it.
13. Update! The quest is undergoing re-structuring at the moment, so that I may hold it without the need for assistance from "higher powers". For those that are waiting for the quest. I am currently thinking about making the sermons a bi-weekly event, possibly with a different structure to prevent repetition and try and deliver something new every time. Suggestions? Would you be interested in participating, should I decide to hold the event every 2 weeks?
14. Must. Resist. Must not make flamewar topic.

15. But I am allowed pictures for my own signature and my bottled emotions, right?
16. I generally dislike the idea, but I would support it if all items stored inside the strongbox are unusable while there (whatever their use is - for instance you can't contribute tea leaves to make tea if your tea leaves are in the box). I don't see the need to hide your items, and I think if you really want to do it, then it should come with an inconvenience.
17. Dst, you troll... Also editing this, so I don't spam another reply when not necessary. Chance of the totem breaking - ok. I support this. I would personally scale this with Erolin heat (say... if you want the totem NOT to break, you must store a minimum of X heat inside it when you plan to revert it. For example, when you want to revert the totem to a creature, 10000 heat = 100% chance of success, 9000 = 90% chance of success, etc). But as I said, I don't like random mutation, and even more, I thoroughly disapprove of hard work only providing an "increased chance" of your creature mutating. It just sounds like one of those "freemium" games where if you want the mutation to occur you must pay 10$ or rely on a 5% chance of it happening even AFTER doing all the work.
18. Knatorwind. SQUAWK! Or... worse... Joke aside, yes, I would like to see this as a feature. I'm personally thinking it would be interesting to have certain ways to "mutate" a creature once it's in a totem. Use specific resources to alter its structure (various types of dust, fenths, Wiiya, etc), Erolin heat, maybe a form of "maturation" in certain locations of power? I personally don't like the idea of random mutation in this case, or chance, mostly because I see totems as a crystallisation, a suspension of what a creature is - if not acted upon, it should remain the same as it was before being totemised. In other words, if you want to mutate it, you should have to work for it, gather resources, etc, not hope for chance.
19. As title says, I'd like to purchase custom-made item pictures for a few of my items: Aeoshattr's Bottled Emotions Aeoshattr's Autograph Black Rose The only one I'm hesitant about is the Black Rose - are all Black Roses (since I imagine a number of people will have one) going to have the same picture? I honestly don't care, my concern is whether or not I'm allowed to purchase a picture for it or wait for it to be commissioned and chosen by "higher powers". I pay in gold/silver, with the value negotiated with the artist beforehand. I would prefer all 3 items to be drawn by the same artist, but I won't exclude multiple artists. Please contact me via forum PM and I will provide details.
20. Doubtful, since I have one and from the picture above I take it dst has one too?
21. Hm. I am very split on this. If I am to respond OOC, then yes. Knowledge is of the utmost importance, whether it is arbitrarily deemed that you should or should not be aware of it (if that makes sense?). OOC, I have found out a number of events that were concealed from me from my early childhood, and despite their rather.... traumatic, negative nature.... I am glad that I am aware of them. If I am to respond IC, as Aeo, then no. Things that conceal themselves or try to escape you are not worth pursuing. They only bring pain, and the pain is not lessened by the achievement or the reward you might get for success. If you should not know something, then there is a reason for you not to know it, and you're better off without it. Back OOC, I found that to be a very eloquent and interesting post, DD. Good job.
22. I'm not sure if I don't get it. But even if I don't get it, I found it so dry that I burst out in laughter.
23. Oh, dang it, someone let loose the little Golemian smurfs that powered the servers. Again.
24. UPDATE! Winners + bonus round? I have now received 3 correct (and only) answers, therefore I can announce the 3 winners! The correct answers, as per requested format are as follows; I have also included the clues I left at each location. ANSWERS:
1. Marind's Roundabout - tile next to arrow - Love - Lady Renata Clue at location: A white rose to bloom, In my mind I must have you. A white page on my tomb, For my pen is dry without you. 2. Willow's Shop Interior - the shopkeeper - Pain - Mcvities shadow Clue at location: The pain, the pain, The pain and the black. Night is your bane Yet any light you lack. Her name you still carry, Bound To the ground, You follow her down the alley. Every move you mirror, In bright light we have played. You always get nearer; Darkness you are yet of the dark you're afraid 3. Heresy Lane - the hut - Home - *Mya Celestia* Clue at location: On the wind's wings you fly An angel Or a bird in the sky? The root. Fly high To the sky And you may find Your heart left behind. 4. Defensive Tower Interior - the chest - Flame - Flamewarrior Clue at location: Dance! Jump on the logs. A tiger, A warrior nevertheless. In the bushes, Waiting to pounce. A fiery name In a fiery vein. 5. Fountain of Dark Vibrations - the fountain - mystery - Aeoshattr Clue at location: I Am A Shattered Soul
WINNERS: First prize: Lintara Second prize: Dark Demon Third prize: Asthir Note: If requested, I will provide screenshots with the date/time of the received correct answers from each player. BONUS: I will award 5 credits myself to whomever is able to tell me WHY I chose those five names (I.E. what do they have in common?). While I will accept very punctual answers (E.G. "You chose them because they're your friends" - no, this is not correct), I will rate the received answers based on their level of detail as well as correctitude. Therefore, if following the example above: "You chose them because they're your friends" vs "you chose them because Lady Ren meant this to you, Mcv's shadow helped you with this, etc", the second answer will win, despite not directly stating that they were my friends, but being closer to reality due to detail. ((Does this need clarification?)) Note: I will require two impartial judges, which I will contact myself and update this topic once more when I have their confirmation to help, as I believe it would be unfair for only myself to rate the entries. Anyone can participate, except for the judges. DEADLINE! 8th February. Don't be afraid to send answers, absolute accuracy does not matter. If you get a part of the answer right, you still have a good chance of winning! Judges confirmed! Bonus stage is ready to go! Find out why I chose those particular 5 names for this quest. Send me a forum PM with your answer - be as detailed or stylish as you wish. Detail and style will get you extra points!
