  1. Sad, sad. You know where to find us, if/when we can help.
  2. That's not a limerick. You've got to be able to read it with 3-3-2-2-3 cadence (emphasis of the beat) - the whole thing taking 13 beats (16 with pauses after the long lines). Think of this as sung in 4/4 time for 4 measures. Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA-te-te-DA (pause) Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA-te-te-DA (pause) Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA, Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA-te-te-DA (pause)
  3. I started with max, about 150K, got down to about 40K at the end of this sequence. If you don't want to see a spoiler, don't do the math.
  4. I use the spell, it gets orange text in chat, I lose a certain fraction of my existing VE. Nothing shows up on the receiving end. Target was FlyingChimpunk, MP5, only 3K current VE on his end - small fraction of his max. I did try it on him 3 times. First time I thought the clock reset got us, no change. Second time MIGHT have worked or it might have been his natural regen. Third time definitly did NOT work - he checked his stats, no change. Is there a limit on how many times you can cast on a given player?
  5. Carnival is a metaphor for life. We are caught up in matters of the flesh and are distracted from our spiritual journey. But of course, the mirror theme rules in all matters of symbology and fortune telling -- "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" -- as is deep spiritual meaning and truth. Like quoting scripture from the Bible, you can find anything you want there. What you identify with tells more about you, than about MD.
  6. No need to be alarmed if anybody notices that I appear to have "deleted" their forum vote without reading it.... In fact I have it all forwarded and am saving all the votes in another e-mail venue.
  7. Um, Liberty, yes those would be hostile acts. But.... this is a game -- what's wrong with conflict and waste? What's wrong with getting your supportors to help you to stake a claim? It adds another dimension to this multi-faceted realm that is MD. You want to preserve history? Do it via a story on the forum.
  8. The underlying laws of nature a dictated by interface hardware and software - very arcane stuff indeed -- plus the limitations of human beings and all the cultural baggage that goes with. Entering this world, we have Mur the creator imposing a layer of order that approximates his vision, but is not a perfect copy of what he conceived, nor is his vision without flaw and complete. The Mur-layer of laws are mutable and changable by him. And they do change. He has appended Rendril to that effort. The lesser players have a lesser ability to change the world and culture, creating "laws" and "customs" of a very different order. The social hierarchy is a grand experiment, monitored to an unknown degree by Mur. And he "plays" with us....
  9. What I was trying to say is, define an eligible rookie as somebody who hit 180 active days (for example) during the calendar year. They should be judged for the rookie award based solely on what they accomplished during those 180 days. If they won some other award for something done after that, fine. Just an idea. I think avoiding land bias is like fighting the wind. I think you'd do better getting ALL the eligible names on the table, narrowing them down by forum poll, then running the vote on the last few. If the goal is to make sure every eligible candidate gets considered, who better to make sure they get nominated than their peers? Anyone known to only a small circle will fail to win the vote - no reason to worry about it during the nomination process.
  10. Rookie of the year should go to somebody who did the most in their first X months (3? 6? 9? 12?) even if they accomplished more after that time. So I'm suggesting you could get the rookie award for Jan-June activities, and some other award for July-December activities. Eligible if you hit X active days during the year. Of course somebody with a low ad % would be unlikely to win. I don't like the abruptness of cutting off & restricting nominations. I think that if there are too many nominations, there should be a preliminary round of voting to reduce the long list to a shorter list with what is considered an acceptable length. There should be no restrictions on who can nominate whom under this system.

So, old foggie that I am, I had trouble with placing and editing pins. Johnson City TN is where I have taught classes - once had an office there, also a lab. Anybody care to fix that (pair of) pins, they are welcome...
  12. Many of you are aware of the story of my drifting between realms, the spirits I have found here, and the enchantments I have scattered about in a catastrophic series of domino-like attempts to deal with events. If not, see my [Q] doc. It also includes the rewards I offer for assistance in this monumental series of tasks. THIS thread is meant to describe my role as the Magic Duel Archives Envoy to Marind's Bell, and how I am committed to serve. My help will be given first to MB citizens, second to those newly entered into the realm (as MB is the most welcoming land for them), but ultimately to anyone who asks and deserves my help. I am committed to improving the joy people find in the realm. I am no longer an MP6 Protector, but I am happy to mentor any in need. As a member of MDA I can of course be considered an information source. I can research questions, or give you leads on where to look for yourself. While I won't give blatant answers that will spoil your puzzling fun, I will try to be helpful and explain. As a Legend Speaker, I can assist with creative writing. I have helped several folks with songs and stories for their papers. I can copyedit if the English language is not your strength. I will help those trying to get their papers from the MDA but have ap troubles due to viscosity. I have learned much enchanting the clickie-spots around the realm and am happy to help those learning how it is done. And I am particularly interested in setting up games and quests... To a limited extent, I can help obtain obscure scene-creatures and loan coins for getting more exotic ones from auction. I can set up rituals if you need help testing something, but I am trying to keep balanced so as to one day provide a durable high-honor target for future generations to train on. Thus I am not eager to get losses. I have been the grateful beneficiary of much unlooked-for support in this realm, and so do not charge for my services per se. I will not abandon the protector I support, so don't ask. But anything else, if you can find me awake, I will try to help as I can. I usually snooze in lucky #13 at the Pub in Wind's Sanctuary. Drop by, leave me a note, and let me know where to find you. I usually wake up several times each day and wander about, stretching my legs. And for those of you new to the realm, WELCOME!
  13. Proof is a slippery thing. The fact that Eon does not deny the accusation is very interesting. A jury might just consider that proof.
  14. Perhaps it would be best to try to meet up in conjunction with some sort of larger event, like SF convention or something. I used to enjoy those, back when I had time.... So the thing to do would be post intentions to be at event X or Y and see who can meet up. I've been to Roanoke's Rovacon twice, years ago....

  16. Spells or items.... Level 1 "Sanctuary" - prevents you from being attacked, or attacking. Level 2 "Suspended Animation" - prevents you from losing (or gaining) stats from combat or daily growth.
  17. You throw this spell and it blocks hostile teleportations on a 1 for 1 cast basis. Long time limit - probably spell reset period - but is used up when hit by multiple teleport attempts.
  18. Don't forget the politcal battles/elements. That's taking amalgamation to an extreme... And the distinction between role-playing and "reality" gets blurred. The forum is more active than the game, because of this draw....
  19. How about finding an active day limit that is more forgiving? A lot of active non-alts seem to have been shut out with the current setting.
  20. He gave me a creature (Joker) by PM'ing the CTC. Looks like something was broadcasting a stock set of text to the realm - perhaps that was a spell.
  21. [Split off] Grido has access to some text corrections, but not all. Rendril does some coding. Are there others actively coding [with respect to clean-up] besides these two and Mur? And what priority is given to cleaning up "first impressions" including typos, grammer, etc.?

  23. Okay, ridiculously close. Stavariou was in 10 days earlier, then Shadow got the same list plus "yellow herbs". I think both deserve a wp. Nobody else came close, and these were magnificent efforts.
  24. Depends on what you are trying to achieve. Injustice needs to be dealt with quickly. If you are trying to start a revolution, perhaps it should wait.
