  1. The evil ones have buried the Fountain of the Lost Path under viscous slime, in an effort to prevent us from stopping their power play. Fortunately, I have found that the ethreal nature of the viscous slime makes it conduct magical transmissions quite well. I have been able to forge a telepathic link between the fountain and the hut north of Wind's sanctuary. It will no longer be necessary to break trail through the slime every hour to pursue the Adventure of the Lost Path. I am using the viscous slime to make a few other improvements in my spells, strengthening connections and the like. Happy adventuring!
  2. Alternatively, you could catagorize by biological anatomy -- flowers, leaves, bark, root, fruit, nuts/seeds. Fodder is another name to use for dead weeds. Compost generally includes garbage and scraps too. [Per Rumi's note - add resin/sap/extract to the list].
  3. How about this - you go to the "herb patch" and as part of the gathering process you state what sort of herb you pick, and thereby what tag the herbs you are gathering will have. Each "bundle" of herbs you carry would then have a different tag giving its name (text string). Handle sort of like ID numbers. Cauldron looks at the tag that the bundle carries to see if it has the right name. An herb would only have a name in raw form. Recipes and tools would exist in wide variety to convert them to something useful. You could let ANYBODY collect herbs, no tool required, but to convert to something useful takes skill/equipment/knowledge.
  4. May your shrooms ever circle and their caps always keep off the rain... Happy Birthday!
  5. Rather hard to test when people get kidnapped to GG and used as grist for the mill. Being stuck in GG is rather de-motivating to keep on trying. I was one of many that got this treatment.
  6. Any place that is site of a social event could be used. The GGG story is really about a phenomenon, not the place. You could do it on Wind & Rain Pub for instance. Or the GoE (and what goes on there) etc. This is all to inspire new players to get involved in the realm.
  7. Well, to get into the spirit of Mur's announcement, maybe viscosity should be shown by big black dots, BIG ones, so that the only part of the map we even SEE is the clear part..... sigh. Readjusting to the new reality....
  8. Hey Mur, I'm trying to SELL these cure-all pickles, don't mess up my "snake-oil" sales pitch. They not only solve the problem of viscosity, they are also good for bad breath, rudeness, brain farts, flat feet, poor eyesight, the heartbreak of psoriasis, noobism, crossed fingers, blue screen, planned obsolescence, death, taxes, body odor, poor memory, and empty pockets (mine). They have been known to counteract the effects of over-indulgence, hubris, lack of sleep, too much sleep, excessive static cling (i.e. pet hair), and low vitamin deficiencies. More people who have eaten spicy pickles have survived than not. Everyone should try one! Or two! (Yes, this is intended to be humorous. Also to point out that what I CLAIM to be, "ain't necessarily so". Caveat emptor.).
  9. The problem I see is it builds too quick, and it is too hard to clear. MDA index room filled up overnight, for instance, and we don't have enough active players to drive it down again.
  10. So Granos, you’ve got Shadow’s submission “All to be taken humorously”, you’ve got Tipu’s “Anti-farting nose clip”, and Mur saying he has “no clue what this quest is about”. This quest went 10 days before I was the only one with the courage to try to get you to explain what you were talking about. For that I get insulted in your tag line. Thank you very much. You have shown us where your interests lie. Fyi – 16 very active months in the realm and I have never seen an rpc or spell doc. Note that all we’ve got from the obsolete description of Inner Magic is “create a good logic for the spell and back it up with research about the parties involved and it will happen”. Your response to my PM was to tell me to post on the forum, so here it is.
  11. Seems to me that abdicating citizenship should automatically be considered abdication of a throne. There ought to be elections, or whatever it is necrovions use to put a new dictator on the throne. You can't join an alliance without being the right citizenship - how can alliance membership be held to a higher standard than the kingship? Can a non-citizen BECOME a king? Shouldn't this whole thread be under the BUG section?
  12. So this is inner magic? We design something that logically should work, then hope and pray that Mur will facilitate it actually working?
  13. Can pay coins or credits. Or spicy pickles. My critters are not that impressive, but are abundant if you want such....

  15. What usually gets me is that TABBING does not put you where you expect. The safest way is to mouse-click in the entry box before typing.
  16. Please read http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/8587-editorial-policy/page__gopid__87770 regarding humor & xreigs posts. Competition is welcome, please start a new thread. After the competition, I will be deleting any threads that are less-well-done duplicates, or slanderous, or generally pointed to as garbage by the reading public and/or critics. Really bad stuff will not be counted in the competition.
  17. I tried for humorous entries when I first set up People in the News. It was not well received. Xreig is now experiencing the same thing. Humor does not translate well across languages and cultures - or even through the digital media across country for that matter. Sadly, it seems that our critics are only going to accept serious pieces. Humor and satire can be wonderful literary tools. The whole point of "People in the News", to me, is to provide an enjoyable way for new players to learn about older players, and about cultural and political movements in the realm. The distinction between bullets and paragraphs is not so important. What is important is whether people are going to read it, and the next one, and the next one..... and get something out of it. The current ongoing contest is an attempt to breath life into this effort once again. To the extent that our critics are constructive, and help improve the writing and its effectiveness in achieving the above goal, we thank you. I wish to thank all the writers for putting forth their creative efforts. This needs to be encouraged. As long as we have good volunteer critics, I will be less critical than I might otherwise have been.
  18. It's all working properly for me now. Oddly, my inventory is still reverse order from looking at the same list publicly.
  19. I had said this submission was okay before MoM objected. I can't go back on this one just because of competitor's objections. I do agree now that it is probably too short to cover the subject. The rule is "concise - just long enough to cover the subject". There is surely more to tell that is important for getting a picture of who N.M. really is. So, all future submissions need to be longer than the above, and cover the subject well enough. Necro - it might be good if you added a bit....
  20. So this is starting to be questioned for the contest, but no reasons cited. Too short? Not enough detail or depth? Let's establish this as a lower limit then for future contest submissions.
  21. With this latest change, clicking on [Inventory] above the mood panel gets me a blank window with 1 picture. The give-away feature is still there, in reverse order of previous. To use an item, I must pull up the details window. I am using Internet Explorer 8 and Windows 7.
  22. SOS = Save Our Ship, a cry for help? Or is SOS an acronym for something you expect us to know? The only way we can design a device that "works in MD" is using MDScript on a clickie or item... yes?
  23. I'm trying not to be too spoilerish about what is there now. Generally there are few people where there is high viscosity - with some obvious exceptions.
  24. On second thought, leave clear areas clear, add colored dots only where there is positive viscosity, more dots for more viscosity like with people. Green would be a good color - like moss or Dr. Suess's oobleck.
