1. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls (and those in-between or undecided)! It's time to get up off those derrieres and start your planning! Because yes, you guessed it! It's time for a new quest! "What is this Quest?" Ah, I'm glad you asked! This is a quest that can be as simple or complex as you choose to make it! All you must do is create a story! it can be in the form of pictures, a poem, words... why, you could even write the next best selling novel! You may be wondering "Why the quest name?" Well, the name is because your story must begin with "Once upon a time". From there on in you may write or draw whatever story you wish! However. The story must be within the logics and parameters of MD; A story about a completely made up character is a no-no, but a completely made up story about a player? Well...that's absolutely fine! "How do I submit my entry?" To submit your entry, you must message it to me so that I may post it here in this thread. Part of the judging will be determined by the reputation of the post. "How will entries be judged?" Judging shall be done through two methods: A panel of judges. - If you wish to be a judge please message me either via the forum or in game. Votes in the general poll. - Please remember to cast your reputation points, good or bad.* "What are the rewards?" 1st - 1 WP + 'Dancing Stone' 2nd - Root Warrior + Acoustic Remains Stone 3rd - Teleport to Paper Cabin Stone If you are interested in sponsoring, please message me either via forum or in game. "When is the deadline for submissions?" The deadline for submissions is two months from now: 07/10/15 Judging will take place for a further week, meaning the end date of this quest is: 14/10/15 - 00:00ST As always, Good luck and have fun!
2. Hello DD Please read here to see some of the previous prices. The 1sc raises are primarily for the "less desired" characters (such as myself) rather than for the "desired" (e.g. dst). With a little common sense, the bidding for more valuable assets should rise quicker than for the lesser -- many players themselves will not want to waste their time. As a note to all buyers: Please remember that we are trying to make this as quick, fun and easy as possible for all of you. The running of the day will go much smoother though with the help and common sense of the players involved. :)
3. In reply to this comment: I agree with the idea but believe a "1,2,3,5" rule would be suitable. From 5sc-1gc a raise of 1sc+ would be allowed. From 1gc-2gc a raise of 2sc From 2-6gc a raise of 3sc+ would be allowed. From 6gc+ a raise of 5sc + would be allowed. This, I feel, would make sure that bids for more "desirable" players are quickened but doesn't rule out too many players in the process straight away, giving them a fairer chance. Opinions? :)
4. Either download another art program -- GIMP is good (and free) and so is photoshop (if you don't mind paying a bit) -- or you can: Take print screen >> go to Imgur >> Upload Images >> Ctrl+V
5. :excl: Warning: Long post to follow.
Perhaps, long ago, there was a large Aramor created in the land of Golemus. It's purpose? To act as a sentinel of sorts, patrolling the areas around the bridge that connects Golemus to No Man’s Land, and the others beyond it. This Aramor was the first of its kind and was quite capable, imbued with great intelligence and wisdom, but also ferocity, for it would need such power to defend itself and the land it was charged with protecting. The people of Loreroot, though, saw the behemoth and claimed it was an abomination of technology that ran counter to the Ways of the Land and of nature itself, and concluded that something had to be done to it: it had to be dismantled. Forever. Whatever the plan was or whatever it involved, it would seem that part of it was to lure the sentinel to a predetermined area outside of Golemus’ influence -- maybe this served as part of its power source? The evidence would lend itself to the conclusion that the plan was successful, as the Aramory exists in its current state. It’s the shell of Aramor Prime. But, if you look closely, you can see that something seems to be missing from the Aramory. "What?" You ask? Why a head of course.. What happened to it? You already know the answer, don't you? It is now located in War Hold. But why? Well, as I stated already, for a sentinel to be effective in its job, it has to be intelligent, wise, sure of itself, and, maybe, even capable of commanding those with whom it would fight off enemies. …doesn’t this sound familiar? The Lorerootians of the time also knew of the Aramor Prime’s abilities, and determined they were located within its head. After the battle (or whatever it was), the head -- likely also seen as a trophy -- was transported and placed where it is now. When you next pass the Hold, take a moment to look at the expression on the face; anyone can see that it’s not one of joy -- in fact, there isn't even a hint of happiness. To me, it’s clearly crying out in one fashion or another. Is it angry? Anguished? Sad? Frustrated? Perhaps all of the aforementioned? Who knows, and perhaps it doesn’t matter, for that’s where it is now, and is likely to stay forever. The scouts and knators have been affected by, and benefited greatly from, the magics imbued into the Aramor Prime’s head. And why does this matter? Because of what’s left behind in the Aramor Prime’s shell: emptiness and chaos. ---- To expand a little: What are the creatures that are available from the Aramory? Without actually naming them, a common theme runs through them: they are all very simple, basic entities that, frankly, are more or less weak overall. They are empty, barren, and chaotic. Perhaps they represent the land in which they are found? I mean, there's little of value to be had within No Man's Land. It's not quite a wasteland, but there is little there that many find valuable (which may just be egoism unable to find worth in what little there is). Or, maybe, they reflect aspects of the minds of those who come here at first--little knowledge, little understanding, and, most likely, a sensation of being overwhelmed. ...maybe this is what happened to the Aramor Prime? It, too, was empty, confused, and felt it had little left to do, simply falling apart where it stood. War Hold, in contrast, is found in a verdant forest, rich with life and people and even, some might say, civilization. All this is very different from what is found in No Man's Land. This is reflected in the types of creatures that one can find within War Hold. There one may take in a young knator or an inexperienced scout. These two beings are, again, in contrast to the ones found in the Aramory, quite able to progress in ability, becoming quite accomplished combatants. As for a theme, one might be tempted to look at the two and say something like, "One represents the Wild, the Untamed, the Powerful, while the other represents Discipline, Civilization and Dedication." And this person would be right... and wrong... The thing is, while the knator begins as a wild beast, as it grows and changes, it becomes more intelligent and capable of many more things. It was told to me that the Knator Commander was a being of great wit and intelligence, integrity and creativity! Whatever the case, Knators begin as one thing and then become so much more. So maybe the theme is change? Well, that could be it, but change comes to most everything, so that would be a fairly weak theme. No, I would state the theme for the creatures in War Hold to be “Refinement.” In both cases -- for the inexperienced scout and the young Knator -- as they learn and grow, each becomes more refined in their natural abilities. The knator, once wild and powerful, becomes only more powerful, but articulate and passionate, able to command whole armies while still crushing opponents with ease. The scout grows similarly, going from inexperienced and unsure to a being capable of placing an arrow nearly anywhere you desire. So, yes, I'd dare say it’s Refinement, for the War Hold. Of course, though, that doesn’t really explain a connection between the two places other than the obvious: they are places where creatures come from. …but isn’t that enough?
Requesting that the slavery discussion be moved to a separate topic please. Let's just keep this to sign-ups if possible. :) As for Fang's entry: it's being discussed, just waiting on some replies. :)
7. I'm afraid that won't be happening Fang, a slave is (as Eara said in other words) a slave -- they don't choose their owners. Leashes will go to the highest bidder, no exceptions. Apologies if this is an inconvenience to you but I would recommend keeping the application up, just for the fun (or torture) of it! :)
8. Impossible due to unforseen or unplanned reasons. :) However, a "postal bid" may be made if you wish to bid for particular slaves but are unable to attend the auction. To do this, please send me a message containing the desired slave(s) and the maximum bid(s) you wish to place for them - e.g. Chewett - 8GC, Aethon - 10Sc, etc. Please also place a "total bid" amount -- this is the amount of coins you are willing to spend in total and usually amounts to the combined maximum bids for each "lot". If you would like this explained in more detail please feel free to message me.
9. Aethon 254077 3 Months I have "skills" that may come in handy, depending on the buyer. I can be used to perform tasks, run errands, etc. All items, creatures and other possessions stay with me. 50%
10. Roll up! Roll up! Slave masters and slaves to be; the time is nigh! Ready your purses, count your coins, for it is time for a new batch of slaves and masters! That's right! With the previous leashes destroyed and the slaves now set free,it means only one thing! It's time for Golden Chains 2015! This year's conditions will be as they were last year, though with a few slight changes (marked in red): Only those who register themselves in this thread before the deadline, can become slaves. All slaves will be “sold” to the highest bidder on the day of the auction. A minimum of 33% of the final price goes to the TK, as a tax payment, the rest goes to the slave. All percentage payments will be rounded to the nearest whole figure. (0.4- will be rounded down and 0.5+ will be rounded up) The minimum duration of your slavery is 1 week. The maximum is 3 months. (Of course you may remain in your master’s service longer if you wish) Important: Leashes will expire/disappear after x4 the duration of your slavery. (with 3 months of being a slave, your leash will expire after 1 year. This is also the maximum leash duration) All masters need to pay the slave and TK before they will get the leash. You cannot bid on your own leash. No creatures, items, resources will be accepted as a payment – only gold and silver coins. Alts are allowed as participants but it is not allowed to bid on your own alts. The auction will be aimed to be completed in one day, unless this is otherwise impossible or unpractical. All those who volunteer to become slaves, please register in THIS thread, clearly stating the following: The Name of your character in game. Your ID. Duration of enslavement (1 week to 3 months) Reason for you being a good slave Limitations or special wishes (optional) Percentage you want to donate to TK. (min. 33%) Standard minimum bid is 5 silver. If you want to raise the starting price for your character, specify the minimum bid. If you cannot attend the main event, please write so in your post and we will endeavor to find a solution to the problem. Please ensure your Name and ID are correct. Incorrect names or ID's may result in malfunctioning leashes. Registration period starts NOW and lasts UNTIL August 15th, 23:59 ST. The auction itself will be 22nd August , and starts at 20:00 ST The host and auctioneer of this years auction shall be Azull and shall be held at the Tranquil Plains, left of the Gazebo of Equilibrium. If you have any remarks on slavery as a social phenomenon in general, please, make your own thread and don’t write your comments here. If you have any further questions -- feel free to write me a forum PM or find me in game. Let the slave hunt, begin! ***** Short explanation for those who is unaware of the leash auction basics: if you volunteer to become a slave, a personal item (a leash) will be made. With this item another player (your Master) can summon you from any place (except of those with No Jump tag). This way your Master can control your freedom but he can also lead you into places, you may never see otherwise. Your master will pay a certain price to be able to use your leash and you are suppossed to run on errands and fulfil his wishes as a good and humble slave. After the expiration of your enslavement period you can claim your leash from your master and use it as you like (give to whoever you want) until the leash disappears.
11. I believe that "personal influence" is meant there; though that line should be re-written to: "Much like the other attributes, such as attack and defence, a player's initiative skill is divided between the creatures in a ritual, based upon the personal influence involved in that battle."
12. And on the second day the world was reborn.
13. [log=The Day MD Died]Day 1 since MD went down. It's only been a day but I can feel the tension in the air. People have been joking about it, but I know deep down they're all serious. I can see them shaking and giggling manically. Some manage to hold on to their sanity...others? I feel it may be too late for some... What will become of us? Of me? I fear that they may not last...I fear I may not last... Magicduel is Love....Magicduel is life.[/log]
14. Installing it today! :D Excited to test it :3
15. Me right now...

16. From the sounds of it. If it was casting on the caster only then you probably just need Grido to try casting on you again. :)
17. I will be constantly refilling heat jars of various sizes. Even though the crafts will be RP'd I will still be filling jars when I begin crafting of an item. In my opinion, I need to make it include some real effort as to solidify the role (in my mind). :)
18. [log= Building the new Furnace] :Aethon whistles as he drags the large bag of sand and mud to the clearing behind the anvil :Aethon unties the opening and widens it with his hands :Aethon whistles happily as he grabs his bucket of water and begins pouring it into the sand and mud mixture Aethon:Down the hatch you go *chuckles as the bucket empties, setting it aside* :Aethon begins whistling again as he reaches into the mixture and begins turning it, folding it all together :Aethon takes his hands out of the mixture and brushes the excess from them, satisfied it's mixed enough Aethon: *wipes his forehead with the back of his wrist* This is going to be tiring... :Aethon mumbles to himself as he walks over to the Golemus stones :Aethon looks them over before choosing a particularly flat one and lifting it with a grunt :Aethon heaves the stone up onto his shoulder and walks it over to the bag, laying it down just beside it :Aethon continues to repeat the process, carrying the flattest stones and laying them in a "not quite complete" circle, funneling on one side and open mouthed on the other Aethon: *finishes placing the last stone of the base and lets out a sigh* Phew.. Aethon: *looks at the base* Oh damn it... *mumbles* It shouldn't have a mouth at the moment.... :Aethon curses before quickly filling up the open mouth of the circle with stones, piling them up to the height of the rest Aethon: *grunts, pleased at the work so far, and grabs his bucket of rainwater, taking a long gulp and splashing his face* Ahh... Aethon: *opens his notebook and quickly scans over his notes* Right...now I fill it with the sand and mud mixture, level it, pile sand, build around sand, dry, cut out mouth, remove sand...blah blah blah... Aethon: *grunts again and closes his notebook* Right then. Aethon: *walks over the mixture and begins to scoop out mounds with his hands, throwing it into the drywall pit* This would be so much easier with a shovel... *mutters to himself* . :Aethon continues to shovel and pat down the mixture into the hollow until it's level with the top stones, smoothing it out with his hands Aethon: *steps back and admires his work so far* Well I be damned. *chuckles* . Aethon:Right...now to let that dry before I mix up another batch... *yawns* I think a nap first... :Aethon quickly takes out the heat pebbles with bare hands, seemingly not noticing the scorching heat, and places them around the construct Aethon:That should help it dry... *chuckles and claps his hands together* Now for that nap... :Aethon wanders over to the anvil and slumps down with his back against the stone :Aethon let's out a stifled yawn before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep Aethon: *yawns and opens his eyes* Well that was a lovely rest... *stretches* . Aethon: *smiles as he sees his work dry* Ah, brilliant. :Aethon quickly stands and moves the heat stones away from the base :Aethon begins to whistle again as he quickly mixes sand and water together before making a smaller offset on top of the base :Aethon finishes smoothing the offset and walks over to his supplies :Aethon whistles as he begins to make more of the sand, water and mud mixture Aethon:There we go... *chuckles as he finishes mixing and drags the mix to the near completed furnace* :Aethon goes back to whistling merrily as he starts creating the furnace shell around the sand offset, bringing the mixture down over the outside of the base for extra strength :Aethon leaves a rectangle of sand large enough to fit a heat jar in length ways, where the funnel begins, uncovered and smooths down the rest :Aethon goes around to the front and quickly removes a segment of the circle, creating the mouth of the furnace Aethon:Now to let that dry a bit before I remove the the sand inside... *places the heat pebbles back around the furnace* Aethon:Whilst they do their job I'll go and grab a heat jar so I can test this beauty out... *chuckles and wanders away towards Golemus, wiping sweat from his brow as he does so* :Aethon comes wandering back, humming happily and a heat jar under his arm Aethon: *walks over to the furnace* How you doing my friend? * tentatively touches the furnace wall and grins as he feels it almost completely dry* Right, I think we can begin the "excavation"! :Aethon chuckles as he bends at the mouth of furnace and begins to scoop out the sand, slowly hollowing it out Aethon: *carefully reaches inside and removes the last of the sand from the funnel neck before pulling out and standing tall, a wide grin on his face* And there you have it... Aethon: *looks at the now solid and cavernous furnace with pride* Now to see if you work! Aethon: *thinks* Hm...first I need a way of opening and closing the jar once it's inside... :Aethon scratches his chin as he thinks Aethon:Ah! *rummages in his pocket for his measuring string before quickly measuring the diameter of the funnel mouth* :Aethon opens his notebook, quickly writing down a few measurements :Aethon shuts it again and pockets the rope, replacing it with a small handful of the leftover mixture :Aethon uses the palms of his hands to press out a small oval before taking out his rope and measuring it Aethon: *chuckles* First time lucky... *grins and set it on top of one of the heat pebbles to let it dry* . :Aethon hums a little as he waits Aethon:That should do it... *he says a little time later, gently grabbing the oval* Aethon:Perfect *chuckles at the now solid piece* :Aethon walks back over to the funnel mouth and slots the oval in length ways, blocking the passage down the neck, an inch of the oval sticking out above the entire funnel Aethon:Now in theory... * unscrews the heat jar and quickly slots it into the funnel opening, the oval now acting like a cap* Aethon:And... *takes hold of the cap that sticks out above the funnel and slides it out* :Aethon laughs as the heat rushes out and fills the furnace with a blazing hot energy Aethon: *steps around to the front of the furnace and admires it* Not too bad for a first try. Could do with a few improvements over time, but for now... It'll do. Aethon: *scratches his chin* Might need to get the lower capacity heat jars for a gentler blaze...but apart from that... Aethon: *steps back around to the funnel and inserts the oval, trapping the heat back in the jar* ...a job well done. [/log] And here is my amazing drawing of the furnace ---> Image
(Blame my Sketchup for not working! :P Will post a better diagram when it decides to or when I've drawn it by hand!)
19. Jester's "Mur Wish" also has a '\' in it's item description. I'll post a screen shot and item ID here when I next see him online (or ask him if he could.) :)

21. Internet's pretty fast for me and it doesn't disappear after a refresh. So I don't think it's the flash error.
22. Yesterday I walked past Willows shop and the Marble Dale Dark only to find that both shop guards and the statue had reappeared. The statue disappeared after I returned to the puzzle and clicked it again, receiving the same message (and sound) as when I first solved it. The shop guards remained (see below) Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2 I don't believe I did anything different yesterday apart from two things I don't normally do: Made tea. Used GoE spell Other than that I did nothing out of the ordinary. Edit: I had solved the puzzle and defeated the guards already at MP4 (I'm aware they are both reset when raising into a different Mind Power)
23. This was specifically about common items and an automated creation. Not about resources. :)
24. "Aethon: Hmm, I'm still not sure how this would work in conjunction to common items however? Aethon: Unless common items could be used to somehow help with the production/collection of resources -- but then that would be making the items usable which was a no-no" I had posted in chat but to keep things in context here, I have added it for reference here also.
25. If those were the people from the Crafters guild, then yes. :D
