Yes, Grido, my point was that you said it too late - away from the discussions that could have shaped the rules, now it's just a matter of chit-chat, no point to convince you that forbidding nominations from fellow land is a bad thing. Things like this shouldn't really be done in a rush. Edit: also, you didn't explain why didn't they deserve it, so you hardly said it, but I know you meant it.

I expected that someone would say "This is an MD awards event, if a person deserves one of the awards, it is on the global level, not on local level, however capable the person is, which justifies the ban of the land nominations, possibly votes too", and that would have been a good argument, if only discussion was meant to be continued. But still, the question must be asked again - where is the line where you stop calculating and limiting how can people (mis)use the nominate/vote system, deviating it from its original free-vote thing?

I'm just saying that we should have at least talked it through, if there weren't more people who complained with their own posts against your suggestion, maybe it is because I've said exactly what they had to say, you're not Mur, you shouldn't be a dictator for MD awards, you're just a volunteer (however noble).

Oh, no, I never called for any kind of enforcing, Pip, I'm against such methods. Regarding one system "fitting" a certain land more than the others, it was just in theory, analyzing the symbolism of the lands. In RL, where you mentioned China, you would analyse the mentality of people and I guess the ideals of the nation's culture, of its myths. There was this nice introduction in a book of my childhood (collection of Serbian epic songs) where the author (the one who collected them all in the book, he didn't wrote them of course) said how a nation is measured (in sense of studied) by learning about their ideals.

[/quote] Monarchy itself is being forced upon the lands, or was being forced since it may happen that Mur will abandon it. Dragual Monarth is right, some types of governments fit some lands more than the others. But like I've always said, I think that the people of the land should reach one of the governmental systems on their own, and not being pushed by Mur. Even without game mechanics features of a monarch that you witnessed in recent Kings and Queens you can achieve authority. As far as I know, Nelya Setesh from Loreroot didn't have those tools, and yet everybody listened to her, she was a de facto Sovereign of Loreroot, and I think letting the lands achieve that on their own makes the game history much more fun, makes this world realistic, or at least not-absurd like with the permanent (supposedly) Kings who get elected by vote of the entire MD for a single land. Such de facto sovereigns can later be backed up with some ability support from the Mur, like in case of good role players who get some abilities due to their roles.

I don't think that the best quote should be removed this year, we had several comedy events, who knows how much conflicts and discussions... There's bound to be some good quotes x) I disagree with Master of Controversy, like it was said, due to similarities with best Villain. I agree with merging Best artist and Paragon Papers. MD Clown can be offensive, no? And in any case, wouldn't that be the part of Best Quote? To little room to maneuver, so I have to disagree. I would like for the Orator reward (tho it can as well be, as the Clown thingy, integrated into quote reward) to be present, to encourage good speeches, but there were not many or none at all Debate events, so I think it should be removed for this year.

If we remove the option for land citizens to vote for other citizens of their homeland, let's make Friendlists too. Grido cannot vote for his best buddies: player A, B and C. Grido Hates Player D, so if he votes for Player D, he doubles his vote actually... It's kinda wrong to enter in the "corruption" possibility seas and to stop on the first checkpoint. There will never, or rarely, be true "winners" of these categories, and if you try to limit it to force out some kind of "proper result" it will only turn bad. Make it fair, and let the mass pick whom ever it wants to pick.

I believe that the voting should be 1 vote point per each person, the winners should be representatives of the whole public, not just the elite. Regarding limiting the nominations... Sounds good to have only 4 candidates, but, what would be the ground to limit just those 4? "the faster someone candidates you, higher chance you get to be a candidate" obviously is not good. Perhaps the jury should determine which 4 of the nominated people get to be candidates, but again, leaves too much space for corruption... So, limit the nominations on 4 people, dependent perhaps on the number of nominations by the public? example: A gets 2 nominations B gets 1 C gets 3 D gets 3 E gets 2 Candidates: A, C, D and E.

New submissions will be accepted until Wednesday, zero hour, server time. The meeting will most likely be in Saturday, but I will give more details when Wednesday comes. The main rewards will be there for all participants, but extra rewards (such as glass donated by Passant The Weak, angien donation by Phantom Orchid, and few spells from me by choice) will only be given to those that come, to encourage arrival of larger amount of people, this is after all supposed to be an MD event.

I figured Nadrolski and Paracelsus were using alts to store the items, which was an abuse, but then Nadrolski's reaction made me believe it wasn't so. So supposedly, Nadrolski and Paracelsus were punished because they gathered Marind Bell's resource tools, with jail, without any public warning that such behavior is not wanted? If the access to the items is public, then the public can do whatever they want with them, without breaking any already established rules, yet not in this case? If there was any announcement that asked MD players not to collect more of the tools, then I missed it.
