  1. Started by Fyrd Argentus,

Currently you get a cymbal "thunk" when anything happens in chat. Imagine spells that could control your sound, or that of others. Choose the sound, and who is affected, and maybe duration. Fyrd wants flatulence. Ssclorp wants a distinctive swallow for RP. You could curse your enemies, give them a cough or sneeze. The possibilities are endless. And you could have semi-automatic changes, for people speaking as toadspoken, ghosts, or invisible admins.... And crickets. We must have crickets....

  2. Started by Fyrd Argentus,

So we're debating what to do about the broken bookshelves in the MDA. For a temporary fix, let's just have one section be a link directly to MD-Archives.com, one a link to the Forum, one a link to the Facebook page (which incidentally needs to be taken over and revitalized) and the third a menu to other possible related or useful sites such as Discord and other internet resources. The next step would be to make sure MD-Archives.com has the most user-friendly interface & inline help we can give it. Only then should we worry about making a pretty bookshelf facade for the articles.

  3. When you access item inventory on the right panel, it's in nice alpha order, and you have categories, and even search filters. BUT you can't see item descriptions. Go to the menu-based inventory window you can see item descriptions but all that nice interface stuff is absent. It would be so nice to have, dredging through long pages of inventory items in random order... [Gosh-awful tip: if you expand items, the order changes, and they are then in reverse alpha order, which actually helps....]

  4. Started by Ledah,

Big caveat that I am a pleb and assuming it is abilities and targets that give/influence stats when saccing crits, can't 100% remember. So - giving all abilities and targets sacrifice values for stats. Add in auras too, or maybe some other bonus for auras to further encourage raising creatures to higher levels. Then give the moss every aura Anyhow, for the first one, I'd suggest energyburn giving briskness.

  5. Started by Ungod,

You know how you have a creature you care about, but it's time to let go? You don't want to sacrifice it, you don't want to give it away, you can't keep it...You don't want it to be forgotten even if you're burying it. I propose a new wish in WP Shop which lets you activate (say) the pyre in that NC scene where you can sacrifice creatures gaining nothing but an entry in a new button next to inventory, logs, bestiary etc. The interface would be very simple - just a page listing the names of the creatures sacrificed this way. Maybe an artwork thrown there, to make it look like the Clash of Ages in NML.

  6. I'd love to not have to spend a credit to shuffle, and I would probably buy more actual stuff, the price per item being closer to 1.0 rather than 2.0 if I'm picky. Also, if you have your eye on something and are undecided, the threat of losing it would spur a purchase. I think more credits would get spent with this system, not fewer. This could happen at the time of the tool reset, for simplicity.

  7. I'd welcome others to contribute to this topic with their ideas for new wishes. Mine so far: 1) See another player's defensive ritual without actually attacking it. 2) Be able to create more than one block of MDScript, each with a different password, on any given clickable. 3) Make an item you have scriptable. 4) The ability to "make change" between gold and a pile of silvers, and even gold notes. 5) The ability to "customize" common & uncommon items by changing the descriptive text on your item. This would also make it so you can upload a unique image.

  8. Started by Fyrd Argentus,

Items like the backpack, case of oddiments, apothecary, toy box, and so forth (I hope there is a coin purse out there) could be allowed to "contain" other items. This would have dual purpose - organize the clutter AND conceal some of your inventory from prying eyes. There could be a "pack" function just like the "give" function buttons, on the right panel, where you place item X into item Y. Then, viewing the container in inventory, it would have 2 buttons, "empty" and "examine" - the latter of which puts you into a sub-menu of contained items, each of which would have an "unpack" button. You would have to decide whether you can nest items, within items, w…

  9. Containers like boxes, crates, chests, hollow trees.... could all be places that you can "give" items that are then no longer in your inventory. Somebody else could then come along, view the contents, and "take" an item. There might be a password as lock. There might be an opportunity to write some text about the box.

  10. Started by Pipstickz,

It seems to me that the number of shards given when sacrificing creatures is unbalanced toward creatures with a high number of levels. For example I have a maxed untokened Shmsh (~7 levels) who gives 1792 for its level. I also have a maxed untokened Imp. Aramor (~3 levels) who gives 28 for his level. For a final example I have a maxed tokened (13 tokens) GG Drachorn (~5 levels) who gives 1160 for his level and tokens. As it works now it looks to me like a creature's level is rather overvalued but only when it has more than 5 levels, meaning certain creatures are very easy to farm shards for, while other ones are much more difficult.

I always thought that it was a booby-trap, having the unbind squashed up against the select button. How much grief has this caused? Even more now with mobiles... How about switching the locations of the "View" and "Unbind" buttons - would make life much safer.

  12. Started by Fyrd Argentus,

I'm thinking of how much fun/havoc this could create in races, chases, and events of that sort. One-Way Travel Arrows. For example: You ought to be able to jump off the MDA balcony and land in the room below. Leading west from Marind's Marble Stair there is a road you cannot follow. Perhaps it should lead to a crumbly cliff that dumps you somewhere in Loreroot. You might jump off Mount Kelle'tha with a glider, or launch yourself with a catapult, and end up -- ANYWHERE -- in the realm at random. I don't know how the currents flow in all these bodies of water, but entering one at one place could see you swept away to some other. Obviously, these …

I'm thinking that with shards now, you have more control over your creature and you can customize the (up to a point) to your liking. Of course, abilities are going to be balancing each other, and there's an element of randomness to getting marks and all...but overall customizing your crits is now even more real. It would suck if you'd get a token which affects your creature in a way it's not beneficial; you'd have to use the token remover and try again (and again). I think tokens being randomly thrown on creatures was a way to make things more interesting/balance, but now there's no need for that anymore?

  14. I have noted some murmurs upon the discordant portal with suggestions to alter the creature interface. Below is an example of how it presently were (on the left) and what my proposition for change were (on the right). I have made a poll; please do vote upon it - if there are any other suggestions, I would that these should be posted within the thread.

  15. Started by MaGoHi,

We all have a very long list of items in our inventories and it is very annoying to switch between your own inventory and another players inventory so my suggestions is: In the hover over field add information if you have the item in your own inventory already, like this:

  16. Started by Ungod,

Spoiler I read Mallos' mood panel entry and thought 'is it really?' I agree in a small part, but I wonder if it can actually be broken. Do we even want to have a 'real' economy (real, as in similar to rl economy)? I'd say not, and lending money with interest is just one of the things I'd rather not have. One of the things I want to see, though, is a merchant role. In the absence of this class, you only have peasants and militia. Which is fine, it's quite idyllic. But to be able to say ''our economy is broken'', you need to have at least some mercs. Making money is risky; merchants must pay for their easy life. They don't gath…

  17. Started by Zetsuei,

I've actually joked around with this idea from folks, but I'll add it here. Basically what my Idea is a small vending machine that runs on silver coins and gold coins. It can be twice a day but the creature it gives you is completely random. You however have the option to reject what was offered to collect "points". The higher the amount of points you have, the higher chance you have for the creature obtained via vending machine to be rarer than usual. Points attained also may have higher values depending on the rarity of what was given back. Points are consumed when you finally grab one but it is in varying degrees depending on how rare the creature you obtained was. Whe…

  18. Bring back torch contest and modify it so the land winner of the torch contest would have their land expand one scene into No Man's Land towards GoE, and subsequently further towards the other lands. Losing the contest would decrease your influence by one scene. The influence would never pass the opposing land's gates. The Path of Loneliness would be skipped over, always a part of Established Housings. The goal would be to gain as much influence over NML as possible in order for your citizens to have easier effort moving in the area, and particularly to be able to enter your land with the land loyalty afforded through controlling your gate, and even to control other …

  19. Started by Duskwish,

I just thought it might be interesting to have a rare creature that can steal small portions of enemy creature stats and add it to themselves(maybe recoverable over time); but at the same time it can lose stats to other creatures. If collaborated well, it could be a neat way for one player to boost the power of a creature. It could also make some fights more interesting (and dangerous). Even if this was a viable idea though, it would probably have to be quite rare. Y'all can say your ideas for crits that have been bouncing around your heads here also.

  20. Started by Steno,

It has been discussed several times by many people about how a present economy in MD would be very beneficial. This economy would need to utilise the resources in-game, at all levels in order to function properly. Several ideas were thrown out about how to introduce said economy. Some were: Make quests/creature recruitment/keys/permanent stat boost/buffs obtainable by exchanging resources, similar to the heads resonator in MDP Make a slot machine that spins (very important feature) that you can pay 1sc into with the change of getting a permanent bump to luck. Toxic plants -> posion -> Intoxicate aura token Make some weird bank thinkie w…

Can we apply this effect in MD? Spoiler (I haven't heard of something similar in here, but maybe I'm not informed well) What I mean is, let's make time flow slower in upper GG and faster in UG and lower NC. If only to make things messier. Spoiler But no, I see it as an application of the principle of time.

Started from a conversation with ailith. Seems like fertile ground for some ideas. Inedible Saltwater Taffy: Rots your teeth but doesn't melt in your mouth or taste good. Has a label on the side: Not for children. Do Not Swallow! Inedible Cow: The fruit of a crabcow tree. Looks like a cow, smells like a cow, even bleeds like a cow, but tastes completely repulsive and causes indigestion. Dies quickly once separated from the tree.

I had noticed of late the increasing number of the realm who hath attained Mind-Power, yet were unable to assign a Principle, as the Story Mode were no more. I note that there were not a single one of the new visitors of the realm that had even attained a third principle; some had not even attained their first. Although I lament the loss of the Story, I should like to propose that one who doth obtain such a Principle Document may then add that principle to that which they were attuned. Such a document should read of such a principle, and upon finding it, should allow the reader to add it to their own principles, if they have Mind-Power that exceedeth their known prin…

New weather spell - Dust Storm (or similar) effect??? (i thought of it affecting rainwater, water, but it can also affect things like heat generation, buildings durability etc) can be triggered in response to how many times pickaxes have been used (say, for 1k counted uses); with mining being an activity now, a dust storm can be particularly polluting

  25. So after several conversations with several players over the course of a few weeks I have thought a lot about this topic. There are a lot of quests out there in RPCQ elements from players that spent a lot of time and energy and creativity to make. There are some (like Burns and Fyrd) who made HUGE quests that spanned the entirety of the realm. (I have stumbled across a few, but can't pick up the thread to continue or end). Several of these have spectacular content, but the player hasn't been online in almost a decade (a while by any amount). Is there an administrative tool that can view all of the content of RPCQ elements (even if they aren't maintained?) …
